The sixth sense is known as ESP (Eextrasensory perception). Well, I don't think that has to mean that you see ghosts or another dimension or anything far out like that. I like to think we all have this on some level such as instincts / intuition or that "gut" feeling. I think that is an important sense that everyone has even though many ignore it. This sense can potentially save you life.

Truth be known I always thought that gut instinct was considered the sixth sense until the movie sixth sense came out. Then I was just confused.

It depends on how you break them down. The sense of smell has a lot to do with the sense of taste, for example. The only thing we taste with our tongue are basic tastes such as bitterness, sweet, and salty, which I guess could be considered three different senses. Vision is a pretty basic one of course. Hearing is another, touch another. Other senses include common sense, horse sense, and a sense of humor. Not all people have these, unfortunately. :(
