I'm a Filipino living in Jackson, MS-what amazes me, is how often people just ASSUME I'm some other race...it's like people see your skin color and something in their mind clicks and says you HAVE to be this race.
The biggest thing is to just ignore it...I've been dealing with it for over 20 years. When I was in high school, my answer was to always deal with it physically, but when you really break it down, you're only giving them what they want if you go this route. Racists feel that everyone except their race is inferior (mentally/physically/emotionally) and by dealing with the situation in a violent manner, you're only fueling their (admittedly) ignorant beliefs.
ON THE OTHER HAND...no amount of money is worth your self-respect. I've quit jobs before due to having racist supervisors who said racist things to me. Just be real with yourself, don't let what any ignorant racist says offend you or hold you back from your goals, AND SHOW THEM you're the bigger person. If it comes down to ditching the job, do it with your head held high.
Good luck-

My mom always says "Kill em with kindness". That way you will save face and keep your job. What I always do is say with a slightly sarcastic tone "Have a nice day!" But by my tone they can tell what I'm really thinking. Or you can be overly nice which will kind of trump their nastiness.

I deal with that quite often, just be extra nice and polite to them, they will either hate it (i laugh when they get mad cause i'm extra nice) or realize that not everyone deserves the ignorance that they are putting forth
Good Luck!!

Sorry you had to experience such stupidity. Kill them with Kindness, Babe. Be who you are, and never allow the ignorance of others to dictate your reactions to them. You'll be the better for it.
