They are both kinda high-strung.Just be sure you can give a lot of exercise to it.If you are gone most of the day I wouldn't recommend it.

I have two Jack Russells and they need space to run and good exercise. If you fail then you may suffer the destructive consequences.

I have a 6 month old Dachshund (named Weasel), I wouldn't be able to tell you anything about a JRT because I've never owned one.

Weasel is very playful and at times very hyper. He loves to chase things from birds, bags, leaves or any other random garbage blowing the street, to eating bugs and bees. Dachshunds are diggers but he hasn't really gotten into the digging thing, a few times he's digger but nothing major. He's very stubborn, if he doesn't want to do some thing like jump into the car, he'll pretend he doesn't know what I want from him even thow he's done it a million times before. He does have a loud bark, but he doesn't bark too much as I've tried to prevent him from being a barker putting my finger to my lips and saying no seems to work for me but i've heard of using a spray bottle also is handy.

    some medical info:

Dachshund are know for having back (especially intervertebral disk disease (IVDD) and hip problems because of their long bodies and little rib cages. Mini Dachshund are less likely to have these problems but still its possible. Other health problems include hereditary epilepsy, dental issues, Cushings disease, thyroid problems, various allergies, and various eye conditions (cataracts, glaucoma, progressive retinal atrophy, corneal ulcers, etc.).

Read up on Dachshounds and JRT and know that you can get any combination of any of those traits. Try www.dogbreedinfo.com or www.akc.com. Mixed breeds are much harder than purebreds to predict behavior.

you will get very small dogs they will bark but both are pretty nice dogs.... all in all you should go look at them and if you don't like them theres always the pound!
