Which media player is better: Zune or IPOD?

I have a zune and it's great but I've been thinking about a second media player so my hubby and I can each have one. I've heard alot of negatives about IPOD: it only plays ITUNES, the software sucks, etc. Does anybody know firsthand if these facts are true or if one is better than the other?

The first answer has no point. How many people use a Mac, for this issue to be of matter? And my Zune never freezes.

The 2nd answer also doesn't make sense. There's no official way iPod works on WMP 11. It only officially uses iTunes for syncing, which is practically the worst software ever.

Oh, and if you already have a Zune, then you should get one for your husband too! You can share music and pictures to each other using the WiFi feature.

I've tried both iPod and Zunes before, and I prefer Zunes. Here's why:

    1. Nice design - Both are very nice looking, but I think the Zune is better. It's different, yet cool, and the iPod Classic has a too much of a utilitarian look to it, and isn't as inviting.

    2. Hardware - Definitely Zune. The brushed aluminum backside is really scratch free (Apple uses the other scratch-prone aluminum back). The plastic front of the Zune has a cool touch to it, while the iPod is way too cold. The Zune has a BIGGER screen. Makes video viewing great.

    3. UI - The user interface on the Zune is much more better and intuitive. The iPod Classic still uses that menu system where you have to keep "digging" in and out to get where you want. Zune one ups it by making it very easy to find what you want in one category, and gets you back to the home screen faster.

    4. Customizability - You can change the background of the menu(easy to identify and looks cool), get your Zune a nickname (you have to register, and hope noone else took it), get special laser engraving at Zune Originals ( https://zuneoriginals.net/ ), cases, accessories, and the usual.

    5. FM Radio - You can catch radio talk shows, news, sports, radio contests, new music, and a bunch of other radio stuff with the FM Radio

    6. WiFi - You can share songs and pictures with other Zune owners, or wirelessly connect to your PC

    7. Software (computer) - I personally like to manage my music in the Zune software better. iTunes really looks like old spreadsheets compared to the Zune program. Again, the UI on the desktop software is pretty nice and simple to go around. Nice transitions, and you can even change the background theme.

    8. Store - iTunes does have more content, I'll admit. But the offerings on Zune aren't bad. It has almost all the tracks that iTunes has, and there's some TV shows and music videos offered. Browsing through Zune Marketplace is cool though! Popular artists have special pages and it looks really neat to browse through.

    9. Zune Pass - This is an optional way of getting music from the store. Instead of traditionally buying music, you can RENT music for $14.99 a month. You have access to almost all of the store's music tracks, and you can download as many tunes as you want onto your device. After a month, you do have to pay $14.99 to keep your subscription running, or else your songs don't work. But it's a great legal way to get tons of music, for a rather cheap price.

Go with the Zune. iPods are getting kinda old, and it woundn't hurt to try something new : http://zune.net/

You can download the Zune software right now, and give it a try : http://www.zune.net/en-us/products/zunesoftware/do...

If you only have 35 songs, and don't really need much storage, a Zune 4 or Zune 8 will do great for you.

If you want a Zune 80, the Zune Pass will help you fill it up to the max, as long as you keep paying monthly subscriptions. Or you could buy individual songs if you want.

    Definitely get a Zune.

I prefer Zunes over iPod because:

    1. Better support - All Zune devices get the same update. Whether it was v1, or 2.0, they all get the same support. Apple doesn't give the same update to all their music players however.

    2. Bigger screen - Compare the small squinty iPod screen to a large Zune screen. Much better for videos.

    3. durability - My Zune has lasted with me since last December of 06'. Most iPod users by 2-3 every year.

    4. scratch-less - I have never seen any significant scratches on my Zune. However, there are numerous on my iPods.

    5. Better UI - where as iPod's is rather stiff, Zune's have a virtual 2D UI, that's rather impressive. It's easy and quik to navigate on.

    6. FM Radio - like local news? talk radio? concert ticket contests? new music? Zune has radio. iPod doesn't.

    7. Personalize it - You can change the background image, get a case, or even do laser engraving with neat background art at Zune Originals: https://zuneoriginals.net/

    8. Subscription service "option" - If you're not a big fan of buying music individually, then subscription is for you. For one flat monthly fee, you can have as much access as to any music you want on Zune Marketplace. It's like "renting" music for a month. About $15. Or you could buy songs individually.

    9. better integration with the Xbox 360 - the new Zune update will promise better integration with the Xbox 360 than the iPod.

    10. View in landscape mode - you can see videos and pictures on landscape mode, so it's like a widescreen.

    11. Better included headphones - where the iPod's headphones have horrible quality, the ones with Zune aren't so bad. They even have a magnetic clip.

    12. WiFi - you can share music, videos, podcasts, and many things with it.

    13. WiFi sync - you can sync to your computer without connecting it!

    14. Same price as iPods - Same price as regular iPods of the same specs, but includes more bang for your buck.

    15. Zune Social - share music with your friends with your Zunes and online. Discover new music and share your music knowledge everywhere : http://social.zune.net/

    16. Sync with Windows Media Center - sync recorded TV shows onto your Zune device

    17. Zune software is MUCH more simpler than iTunes - give it a try for free to see : http://www.zune.net/en-us/products/zunes...

    (retail cost)

    Zune 4 : $150

    Zune 8 : $200

    Zune 30 : $199

    Zune 80 : $249

    Give Zune a look at : http://zune.net/

I like Zunes better because they're cheaper and they can share songs, pics, etc.

And there touch pad thingy is cool, and the Zune can hold more videos then ipods, and doesn't scratch as easily as ipods so I recommend Zunes.
