Why do you think Christians are supposed to tolerate you?

Tolerance of other beliefs and religions was never taught by Jesus. Neither is tolerance of sin or a sinful lifestyle.

Christians are to live by truth, not tolerance.

Tolerance of sin and tolerance of the sinner are two different things, dude. We ourselves may not believe other religions, but there is no reason we should not treat others with respect and honor. Jesus treated the sinners of His day with honor. And he decried the Pharisees. We are to hate the sin but love the sinner.

Good point. But throught Jesus's ministry he spent most of his time rebuking and teaching the Pharisees, who taught a different religion. So he tolerated THEM but not their teachings.

Thank you! I have been trying to tell these people this for over a year now, and sadly, not many are in agreement with this. Can you believe it? They all want God to conform to their idea of Him, so they can be comfortable and not have to worry about any consequences for anything they do on this earth. I swear none of them have read the Bible, or tried to understand it, anyway. They think there is no Hell, or Lake of Fire. They just make up their own version of hell, because they don't like to think about it. Well, one day it is going to be staring them in the face, and they will have all of eternity to think about it then. I read the Bible often, and I study it. I'm not saying I know everything. I don't know anyone who does. But, I DO know one thing, and that is God, in His Holy Word has told us what will happen if we worship other gods!! Isn't that the first commandment??? That word, "tolerance" is a new age thing. It has creeped into our churches, just like all the heresies there are now. Yes, this is the "great falling away" from the church.

Just in the past month there has been a "flowing in" of new people in our church. These people are coming in from other churches because these other churches are NOT preaching the Word of God. They are doing everything but. They are preaching TOLERANCE!!!!!! I know it is getting close to the end times, because we are seeing more and more of this. I am so thankful that I have been in the church I'm in for several years, and our pastor preaches God's Word without the sugar coating that these people so love to hear! They want to come out of church "feeling good." They think it's all about them, and not about Jesus. Thanks for bringing this up. At least, now I don't feel so alone. I get zapped on here a lot because I stand up. I will NEVER compromise the Word of God! And neither should anyone else. You are right.. God does NOT tolerate other beliefs or sinful lifestyles. You are so right!! God Bless.

Edit: My understanding of your post is that you are saying they want us to ACCEPT their religions, or their false beliefs as being ok to do. Am I wrong here? Because I do agree with loving them, but not their sins, or their evil ways. I am not going to change what I believe to do it, though. That is compromising the Word of God, and that is what I'm talking about. We are suppose to tell others about the saving grace of God, because they are lost (like we once were). But, when they want to come into our churches and change the Word of God, that is another story. Yes, people, love your enemy, but not to the point where you become one of them and turn away from the Word of God!!

Woody S--All of that is true. They are Jesus' words. However, what you posted has nothing to do with what the question is. Of course we are suppose to be kind to those who hate use, etc. I for one will not deny that. What this is about, however is ACCEPTING their religious beliefs. There was not one word of what you just posted that addressed that issue.

Have you ever read the letters to the churches in Revelation? Do they once say, "It's ok if you do these things you do, I will love you anyway?" or do they say "REPENT! " Jesus tells them they have to STOP doing what is wrong, and obey the Word of God, or they will perish. He doesn't say what they are doing is ok, and that He will tolerate it. If you are telling others it's ok to believe in other gods, then you are going to be the cause of their damnation, because you are lying to them, just so you won't hurt their feelings. We are called to spread the Gospel. How are we suppose to spread the true message of the Gospel when we are sending out false signals that other beliefs and religions are going to be "tolerated" by God? People, this is not hate! It's got to do with saving souls, and with RIGHTEOUSNESS.

The end times are drawing near, and one of the things that is going to happen is that the world religions are going to become ONE!

That is the work of the ANTICHRIST, not Jesus Christ! Read Revelations and study it. Please!

38 ¶ Ye have heard that it hath been said, An aeye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not aevil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right bcheek, cturn to him the other also.

40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.

41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

42 aGive to him that asketh thee, and from him that would bborrow of thee turn not thou away.

43 ¶ Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt alove thy bneighbour, and hate thine enemy.

    44 But I say unto you, aLove your benemies, cbless them that dcurse you, do egood to them that fhate you, and gpray for them which despitefully use you, and hpersecute you;

45 That ye amay be the bchildren of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth crain on the just and on the unjust.

46 For if ye alove them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

48 aBe ye therefore bperfect, even as your cFather which is in heaven is dperfect.

There quite a few people here who have to go back and do some reading of the Bible. If you are going to mount an attack, make sure you are on firm doctrinal ground.

Yes,I believe God and His tolerance on the world.

  • If he didn't teach you to tolerate other beliefs and religions, what are you supposed to do? Kill us off?

Thank you. Just don't try and convince the herd of this poignant fact. They think believing in Jesus means accepting everyone and tolerating every lifestyle that comes down the road no matter how ungodly and nauseating it and the person living it are. Gee- I can't imagine why Christianity is so fragmented in these modern days of no standards and no traditional values.

I've said it a million times, so one more time can't hurt: Those who tolerate and accept everything value nothing.

But love was, and so was "loving thy neighbor as thyself." Unless you still subscribe to the archaic and outdated notion that one's "neighbor" is simply the person who lives next-door and not as ALL people, then I don't see how you could be a Christian and be intolerant of others. It just doesn't fit.

Besides, aren't you Christian-types supposed to be paragons of good or something? Is it very much like a good person to put others down because they don't behave like you do?

I think Jesus wanted us to treat others how we would like to be treated. When he did this usually that person stopped thier sinful ways and walked like him.

Jesus is intolerant of all false doctrine no matter what kind of church you're in. Christians tolerate their sinful, unsaved friends in hopes of on day leading them to the Truth ...... Jesus Christ.

Christians are to tolerate the sinner, but hate the sins they commit.

Jesus is intolerant of other beliefs and religions because they are all satanic lies.
