George Bush topic? Open discussion.

I would like to know why everyone is so angry at Bush. We went to war to stop the terrorists. Poeple are very angry because their family members are being killed. But aren't those family members the ones who wanted to serve this country? If Bush hadn't sent troops over, the terrorists probably would have sought this as an opportunity to keep...well...terrorizing us. Your input is valued. Please respond.

Hang on...didn't the US invade Iraq to overthrow a 'dictator'? It hasn't anything to do with 9/11. That was Afghanistan and to date the so called culprit Osama Bin Laden hasn't been caught. And furthermore, that wasn't a war, it was a blitz carried out to make it look like the US was doing something about it. In the meanwhile a nice big old pipeline carrying Afghanistan's natural Gas resource out of the country and into US friendly zones with the goal of making lots of money. Afghanistan didn't declare war, there were no countrymen in place to fight, no intention of retaliating and striking the US. It was a small cell of terrorists who'd taken control of the majority of the country that should have been targeted.

It boils down to financial gain for the poilticians and big businesses.

The reason why the majority despise Bush is because it's blatantly obvious that his reasons for invading Afghanistan and Iraq was for wealth and power and not for the interest of the US citizens or the rest of the World.

If they wanted to stop terrorism, why did they continue to sell weapons and arms to them, train them up in combat? The guys who piloted those planes into the twin towers were known to the FBI and CIA as having links with terrorist cells. They used their own valid passports, bought the plane tickets under their own name, managed to pass all the security measures in place allowing them to fly and cause such destruction. If the US government were so damn determined to stop terrorism why was this not picked up? Those responsible were citizens of Saudi Arabia...why wasn't Saudi targeted for harbouring terrorists? Oh, that's right Saudi and the US have financial links with on another.

People usually join the forces to protect their country against unjust or murderous attack, not to be the governments henchman or to be used to secure the wealth of the elite. When they put their lives in danger, under such pressure, they should be adequately equipped, trained and rewarded. Instead they have to make do with faulty equipment, witness horrendous events and in the event that they should be badly injured there's no support or help for all that they have given. And all the while big corporations make a mint and the politicians get a nice big fat retirement fund.

It should be mandatory that either son, daughter, wife or husband of those who make the decision to go to war be called up to join those soldiers on the front line. If that was in place, countries would be more diplomatic and I seriously doubt politicians would be so eager to be so gung-ho and declare war on a country for financial gain and if they didn't wholeheartedly believe it was unavoidable or for the right reasons.

The bottom line is the US DID NOT go to war to stop terrorism. I urge you to look at various sources, don't just rely on CNN or Fox News for your 'news' and information. Look online (be careful where you go as there's lots of BS floating around), read other publications and news sources to get a balanced picture.

I agreed with Bush to go into Afghanistan, it was justified and warranted. then he turned the focus on Iraq. Why, there were no terrorists there, Yes Saddam was a very bad man but, why did we take our eye off of the real fight? that's why people are angry at Bush. He started and unjustified war. And please don't give me the, well we haven't been attacked since he went over there, crap. We have never been attacked, seriously that is and I think the first time was the first world trade center bombings.

He made us afraid with talk of a mushroom cloud and weapons of mass destruction. How do terrorists work? They make you afraid.

    Edit: Chantell, I love you

Bush cant get elected again because a President can serve only 2 terms . There's is a good chance the the ignorance of people could lead to another Bush "Jeb " the presidents brother to take office . Currently the Governor of Florida the key state in the election last time around .

The US should protect itself from terrorism. Attacking other countries only makes terrorists hate us that much more. What started out with the whole world standing behind us and having sympathy after 9/11 has now turned into the US looking like bullies and despised. Bush had an opportunity to drive international support and he blew it big time.

Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with each other. The Iraq adventure dealt with things that do not involve terrorism. (Oil and Israel.) Notice how Bin Laden was never found.

you know, you'd have a point if Iraq had anything to do with 9/11.

People (liberals) hate President Bush because Al Gore loss plain and simple. You're right, the people who died in war enlisted on their own accord and chose to take the risk serving their country. Cindy Shehan, are you out there? These brave men and women knew the risk and knew they could possibly be in a war and get killed (that's what the army, air force, navy, and marines do) when they ENLISTED. God bless all of them!

Many people are short sighted and ignorant. They are the ones that think if we had let Hitler conquer Europe he would have been happy and never attacked the U.S. or other countries. They don't understand that evil is never satisfied and can not be appeased, it can only be destroyed.

Under Bush's leadership, we destroyed two evil governments and freed 50 million of our fellow human beings. Anybody that thinks that is a bad thing because it isn't popular is just plain dumb or a racist.
