My dog has diarrhea

She has had it all weekend but otherwise seems fine. Its troubling because she has gone in her crate several times....which she never does and is really distressing to her so I can tell it was unavoidable. We have been feeding her plain pumpkin since yesterday because we heard it was good for their stomachs. I also will get her some plain rice and boiled chicken. Any other ideas? If she seems fine otherwise and I give her enough water, does anyone think there is any reason to take her to the vet?

Yes, if a dog has had diarrhea for that long and the pumpkin isn't helping, she needs to see the vet. She's most likely dehydrated by now (despite drinking plenty of water) and you really need to find out the cause because this can't go on.

sometimes their systoms gets off just like us and as long as there is no blood or green in the poop she might have eatten something that has caused the runs or if she is nervous or high strung colitis might be the problem.give her 1 tsp of pepto bismal or kaeopectade every 4 to 6 hrs or right after she goes for a day or so.add fiber to her meals like grape nut cereal or 1 tsp of metamucil to bulk her up and make sure she has lots of water and add gatorade or a sports drink for nutreints.if she is still going all over by tommorrow call the vet to see if something else is causing the problem.

Why not just call your vet and tell them what you've told us here. They can tell you what to do.
