PLEASE HELP! IM SCARED!is it illegal for a guy who works in my bank to look me up online and email me?

I understand from your question that he is not a work colleague, just someone who works where you bank. If I have understood correctly, and he used bank information for personal purposes, then it is likely that he has breached the bank rules. If he looked you up in some sort of public e-mail directory, (is there such a thing?), it might be different.

I suggest that you do either e-mail him that you do not wish to have any contact with him and sorry for any misunderstanding (it might be a matter of a simple misunderstanding of the 'signals'!) or contact his manager at the bank if you do feel he has gone too far and is 'stalking' you. If you get no joy and it continues, I would suggest contacting the police.

If you gave him access to your IM or ICQ (is that even used anymore?), he can probably find your information online. That said, it is possible for him to look up your information at the bank.

However he got your information, it is probably a violation of the bank's internal rules for employees to fraternize with customers, especially in a way that makes the customers uneasy. You are right to bring this up to a manager.

If you can prove that he used information confidential to the bank, or used his bank position to use wrongful leverage on you, then that may lay the ground for criminal or civil action. If, however, you made the first contact (adding him to your contacts list, etc), this will be difficult to prove. Either way, he's likely out of a job soon.

He's not breaking any laws by doing this unless you have a court worthy document of you stating that you do not want him to contact you any longer. If you do and he continues you could have a harassment/stalking case.

Don't be, for lack of a better term I can use on Y!A, a jerk. If you don't want him to talk to you, tell him so. Take responsibility for things that you can, if it continues after, then take action.

It isn't illegal to look you up online. I think you are overreacting.

Perhaps he thought you were interested in him because you did this. Sounds like a misunderstanding. Just ask him not to email you anymore. Tell him it's nothing personal, but your life is already too complicated.

If he mails you once, it is no harm (unless an implied threat is involved). Just tell him to stop. If you tell him not to email you, and he keeps on doing it anyway, then after the third time you tell him no, then technically it is considered harassment. There are laws against harassment. Tell him you will call the police if he does not stop.

No laws are broken. Why would they be. He obviously likes you and tried to get in contact with you to get to know you. If you don't like him just say so. Then he will most likely leave you alone. I can see how it can be a bit creepy. However how else was he suppose to get in contact with you if he likes you. Just tell him flat out you are not interested.

Go speak to the manager at the bank... they should be able to do something about it. But that IS pretty creepy. Make sure you keep your doors and windows locked!!

If he e-mails you repeatedly after you tell him that you do not appreciate any emails from him, thats another story.

Its very legal..isn't that disturbing, there might be guidelines at the bank he is breaking, but yes, go have a chat with the manager...either way the manager will stop him

If he found your email on line, its just like your number being in the phone book. No laws are broke.
