Some fiance you got there... maybe she hates being a malaysian so much which explains why she's marrying a non-malaysian...
Funny because compared to Palawan, Malaysia has more beautiful places to go. First stop, try Langkawi and stay at Datai because it has a private beach, perfect for honeymooners.

Shouldn't the both of you be honeymooning in a place that both of you haven't been to before?
Fret not, you'll be 'seeing' & 'tasting plenty of 'Malaysia' during your honeymoon no matter where yuo guys decide to go. Wink wink!
By the way, Malaysia is pretty safe. Just do not go to the wrong places as any bad neighbourhood you would avoid back home in US or any other country.
In case you have to know, I'd suggest:
1) Pulau Langkawi, Kedah
2) Kota Kinabalu, Sabah
3) Cherating, Pahang
That's just my list for you. Am pretty sure other guys/gals in YAM have their other excellent places to suggest.

First of all congratulations to you and your bride-to-be.
I don't know why your fiancée wants to avoid Malaysia, maybe it's best if you ask her that question.
There are thousands (Maybe tens of thousands) of ex-pats living, working and retired in Malaysia and I can assure you that is no risk too you if you show some respect to the locals.
As for places to visit, well, the list is almost endless, so maybe it's better if you browse though a few of the websites listed below.

it is nice that you want to know your fiance more by paying a visit to her country. try the resort island of penang northwest of kuala lumpur. it is on the unesco world heritage sites list so you can just imagine what nice time a couple may have there. you can stay at the century bay hotel in georgetown. you can look them up at [http://www.centurybaysuites.com/] it is near the airport and is close to the little india and chinatown quarters in malaysia.

for superb place and will cost u a bit,
try to 'shag' in these places
The Four Seasons Resort, Langkawi
Nexus Karambunai Resort, Sabah
Pangkor Laut Resort
The Datai Langkawi
There is no risk for American or any foreigners to walk around in Malaysia.
Perhaps your fiance hesitate to tell you that she would prefer to go somewhere other than her country because she wants to be to where she never been to..
Other than that, you are not allowed to kiss in public.
Perhaps that what she wanting to do during your honeymoon period.
But..if you want to take her to these places, hopefully she would be thankful,
because this place is somewhat amazing.
