First square the 2x, by squaring both the 2 and the x.

    2²x² = 4x²

    Leaving: -6x(4x²)

Multiply the coefficients (-6 x 4 = -24), then multiple the variable (x and x² = x³ - multiply the x's by adding the exponents)

Then put them together to get -24x³

    That's simple Algebra.

Why don't you look in your text book?

Weren't you paying attention when your teacher

    was teching it to you?

Well anyway.I guess I can help:

You multiply -6x and 2x which would equal -12x squared

Then since there is also a power of two,put onto that

you need to put (-12x squared)squared.

Next, you just multiply the two squares and it would end up being

    -12x to the fourth power.

    I believe.

If you have trouble with this then you will be in for a trip

    later in algebra.

    And next year.

    Things won't get any easier.

I'm sure you'll get the hang of it though.

But if you don't do it yourself you won't ever learn.

    Good luck.

    Hi there.

    First Step

You need to get rid of the brackets first.

    -6x(2x)^2

= -6x(2times2 and XtimesX) (NOTE: x times x actually means power times power if you have power of coefficientt)

    = -6x(4x^2)

    then distribute.

    = -24x^3 (ANSWER)

    -6 times 4 is equal to -24

X times X^2 is equal to x^3 (just add the power)

    Remember:

Distribution rule is VERY different when you have binomials.

    first do the exponent

distribute it to bothe the 2 and the x in the parentheses.

    -6x(4x^2)

    next multiply -6x times 4x^2

    then -24x^3

do the exponents first, then parentheses so its 2x^2 becomes 4x^2. then multiply the 4x^2 by the -6x and you get your answer.

    -24x^3

If just the 2x is being squared :

    (2x)^2 means (2x) (2x) which equals 4x^2

so -6x * 4x^2 = -24x^3 (just the x is raised to the third power)

    Good luck to you !

    -6x(2x)^2

    Start with the exponent.

    -6x(2x)² =

    -6x(2)²(x)² =

    -6x(4)(x²)

Note: When multiply exponents, you add them.

    -6(4) × x(x²) =

    -24 × x^(1 + 2) =

    -24 × x³ =

    -24x³

    First work out the exponent.

    -6x(2x)^2

    (2x)^2 = 4x^2

    Then multiply 4x^2 by -6x.

    -6x * 4x^2 = -24x^3.

you do BEDMAS (Brackets, Exponents, Division, Multiplication, Addition, Subtraction. in the oreder they appear. 2^2 = 4 (2*2)

    -6(4)=-24

  • 1 decade ago

    (2x)^2 = (2x)(2x) = 4x^2,

you multiply the 2's and add the exponents on the x's 1+1=2.....so... it is 4x^2.. nowww..

-6x . 4x ^2 (multiply the numbers and add the exponents on the x)

    -24x^3

    :)
