If you are going on a 7-day cruise there will be two formals dress nights9they are not REQUIRED, but optional) and one of those the captain will probably dine in/at one of the dinner seatings. BUT, the captain will sit at a special table for 10 or 12 people and the rest of the 400 or so people in the room will not even know he is there or recognize him. So you can dress formal as most people do (men in a tux or suit and ladies in a gown or party dress (any color)) but just don't think the captain will notice what you wear or even see you. The staff will pick the people who sit at the Captain's table and they are usually people who have cruised many times or something.

I heard something similar about female pilots and I'll be honest, I went on Holiday to Tunisia. On the return journey a woman was piloting, we came into the airport to find that it was snowing, all the other planes were being diverted to other airports. We didn't have the fuel so she had to land the thing on an iced runway. The tail on that plane swung like a pendulum, but she held it. There was applause and one of the air stewards had fainted, so I aint got a problem with a female captain so long as you got the bottle to get the job done. That goes for men to.

No problem. If you've been trained and taken the appropriate exams, I would take a cruise if you was the Captain.

Where are we going? I'd recommend going around Cape Horn that will put your training and our stamina, to the test.

    When you're ready Captain.

Dave W - Your a naughty boy, you'll be walking the plank. I'm sure there's some rhyming slang in there somewhere!!

I would be more than happy to sail with you. It would be great fun.

As long as I don't have to get done up like a dogs dinner in order to sit at your table for dinner!

I'd be proud to sail with you. Doesn't bother me in the slightest. I'd probably feel safer actually.
