Xbox red ring? Please Help?

When turning on my 360 the other day, 1/4 of the ring in the bottom right corner lit up red. On the screen came a warning, I instantly turned off my xbox and turned it back on. It was gone but it worries me. Anyone know?

    1 red ring is a hardware error. If it's E74 then it's close to overheating.

    This site has a list of the error codes;

    http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/repair/Xbox-360-erro...

    If it's out of warranty/been opened then I sell x-clamp replacement kits on ebay.co.uk for £4 + p&p which should sort the issue (has done for 1100 others!) All it is is 8 bolts, 16 washers, 8 spring washers and thermal paste to replace the rubbish thermal pad MS have. + an easy to follow guide which takes you through the whole process.

    Just look up XBOX_EXPERT on the Community page of ebay.co.uk

    if u get three rings of red more commonly known as the three red rings of death then your hard drive has overheated. Take three towels and wrap it around your xbox (turned on) Give it 15-20 mins Unwrap the towels around your xbox n let cool for 15 mins (turned off) Turn it on an your xbox should b working. This is only a temporally fix so you will have to repeat the process if you don't want to send it in.

    my xbox got that too and i turned it off and back on and it was fine but a few days or weeks later it became permanent. my xbox doesn't work now.

    the one red light is like a hardware failure or something and usually theres an error message with a code on the screen, if you know the code you can look online and it will tell you what the problem is.

    you should be worried about this red ring as if it was 3 lights this is a virus called ring of death! this is very common in xbox's without bigger memory and a not at all common on the elite but for dif amount of lights means diff problems. 4 rings usualy means there is a conection error such as the internet lead could be out or not in correctly :) i hope you get it fixed xx

    What was the Error Code? Was it E 67 or E 68 or E 69? Do you have an HDD hooked up?

    Yes? Do this: Unhook all cables. Remove HDD and reinsert it making sure that it is firmly installed on your console. Re-hook up all cables. That should do it.
