avoid it everyday unless you are using two forms of birth control. a woman usually can get pregnant 10-15 days her the first day of her cycle begins..( this is USUALLY ovulation time) THis is if she is regular every month like clockwork. BUT as you know, all people are different and so are bodies. Technically a woman COULD get pregnant at any time of the month. Honestly I would Never go by a guessing game if I didn't want to have a baby. You'll be playing russian roulette every month. Odds will catch up to you. Why is it not fool proof, because we don't know the exact dates of ovulation AND because sperm lives longer in some women. ( up to 6 days !) If you got a few boys still hanging around waiting in there and that egg pops out early, its going to have a friend banging on its door.
Pull out methods DON"T work, Condoms BREAK. There needs to be two forms of birth control, she needs to be on one and use a condom.
I am writing this to you because my mother got advice to avoid the ovulation days and she went by her calendar.. Surprise, see what I mean. Have fun.
One more note.. If you haven't been with this girl for very long, remember that STD's cannot be seen. It would really stink to get something like Genital Herpes ( no cure) and have your manhood looking like an ear of corn. LOL.

she should check when she's ovulating. there are lots of ways to keep track of this, taking temperature, checking cervical position, checking chervical mucus, also ovulation kits can be helpful. don't have unprotected sex from the day she starts her period to 2/3 days after ovulation. sex after ovulation to the day the period is expected is quite safe. this should be true in theory. but i still would you, at least, a condom all through the cycle, to be on the safe side. some women argue that they fell pregnant while having their period...
also, you can go to the doctor and get information of the various methods of contraception for her, pill, coil etc...
my husband and i've been sexually active for 10yrs and we never had unwanted pregnancies. but we were always careful about it. avoided sex during ovulation and the days prior ovulation, always used the pull-out method and when not, used condoms.

For a 28 day cycle the most fertile day is cycle day 14 but every woman is different. Tell your lady to get an account with Mymonthlycycles.com it will track her cycle for her and give approximate days of when she is fertile.

well its never fullproof, but you should check out ovulation callanders. you can google it in. it will show you what days of her cycyle, but every month she'll have to update it, as periods dont come the same time every month, but within a general time.
