What are social issues that stem from gay parenting?

Specifically, having two fathers, not mothers.

I think that social issues faced by gay parents are caused by a lack of understanding and a proliferation of stereotypes by the greater society.

Gay men may find that they need to keep documentation on hand to prove that their child is theirs. I've read of instances where gay parents have been pulled over by police to investigate the "situation" to ensure that the child wasn't kidnapped.

The child may experience teasing by classmates and peers.

Outside of this you have problems related to the lack of legal recognition of LGBT families. Society is not supportive of same sex families, which can cause some stress for the family.

I guess the important thing to remember that, even with society's pressure on gay parents, LGBT people can be great parents, who raise valuable members of society.

Well, unfortunately, not all of society is as accepting of gays as the media sometimes presents it to be. There is still a lot of prejudice, hatred, and violence based upon homophobia. And chances are this hatred and prejudice may spill-over into the lives of your children.

MANY narrow minded people would not allow their children to play at your house. Some would not want your children hanging-out with their kids, as if homosexuality is contagious. Your children may not be invited to birthday parties, sleep-overs, etc. simply because other parents may be afraid of public opinion. Situations like Boy Scouts (or Girl Scouts) camping trips, where parents generally volunteer to help chaperon, may present special concerns from leaders or other parents.

Source(s): Listening to comments about gays in general. Especially from the conservative-holier-than-thou homophobes. Watch out, we gays are out to destroy all traditional family values, don't ya know ? Apparently in some social circles, being gay precludes a person from having decency and worth. And the unconditional love they propagate is contingent-upon conforming to THEIR specific beliefs and practices. - BEWARE

I think your question can be interpreted in 2 ways, you may want to clarify.

1 from society's view point, what are the potential downfalls of having 2 fathers? none, you have a kid who grows up in a loving family. No real problems there, if society was accepting of families in all shapes and sizes.

2 from the parents stand point with regards to how society responds to them? Well, if they are good strong parents (which the probably will be if they have willingly decided to have children) they will be able to over come almost any obsticales put in the way.

Probably none. Studies have been done involving gay male parents and it was found that there were no problems involving social issues.

  • Parenting isn't a social issue. It is a private family matter.

The hypochristian ***** moms who act all sympathetic for the child!

It's mainly just other badly raised children who tease about it.

THEY BELIEVE THAT IT IS MORALLY WRONG FOR A KID TO HAVE TWO FATHERS. ALSO THEY ARE AFRAID OF KIDS BEING PICK ON BY THERE PEERS. ( IF THAT IS ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS THEN THEY NEED TO GET RID OF CHILD OBESITY , POOR CHILDREN , AND JUST KIDS WHO ARE MEAN TOO ). ALSO I BELIEVE THAT THEY THINK JUST BECAUSE THERE PARENTS ARE GAY THEY BELIEVE THE CHILD IS GONNA BE GAY.
