Late Spring of 08 it rained something like 14 inches in 3 days. The river rose--our landlady said it only gets that high once every 80 years. People in town were saying it was the highest they had seen since they built the dam. We had to have the National Guard come get us out of our house because we were surrounded by the river, which usually is about 5 feet wide and maybe 6 feet deep and doesn't get any closer to our house than 100 yards.

I think it was back in the mid 70's that there was a terrible winter hurricane not a sign of snow in morning when leaving for work, I was not on the road more than 10 minutes and I could not see infront of my car for snow, I turned around and headed back home and did not make it, went in the ditch in a whiteout..I abondoned my car since I was only a short ways form home...I was literally blown toward home,(thank gawd I was going in the direction of the wind) and I was afraid that I would not be able to turn into my driveway on foot, the wind was that strong...I managed to fight my way to the house and had to struggle to get the door open...That storm lasted for a day I think and the power was off for about 4 or 5 days, my car was eventually pulled out of a very small drainage ditch, under the hood of the car was total snow packed in and around the engine as well as around the tires in the wheel wells. It was a very scarey time...I hate winters.

Last summer.
High winds, Thunderous storms. Heavy rain. We lost power for about 11 hrs because of it. I believe a transformer blew...
and then my dog got afraid, and then when my mom open the door, he was sprinting a mile. :( we almost lost him but he finally stopped at the river!! :) So yeah that was scary

Camping in a tent in Port Hedland Western Australia during a category 2 Cyclone. Ok, the cyclone was pretty weak, but when you are in a tent it can be very very scary! Thought we were airbourne at one stage.
