Do you think McCain did really good at the Rick Warren thing?

McCain seemed to be in his element at this event. And he didn't bash Obama once! I think we need to see more of this version of McCain. What do you think?

Yes. I think McCain was excellent. Obama gave his usual pat answers and stumbled when he had to think about something that caught him off guard. He also said a few things that show his inexperience...like he would not have appointed Clarence Thomas because Obama felt he was too inexperienced for the job. McCain spoke from his heart. He gave good answers about taxation, security, freedoms, foreign policy...you name it, he answered it. I was very impressed with McCain.

  • McCain simply answered the questions directly and you weren't sitting there waiting for an answer like so many times with Obama. The bottom line is you want a candidate with conviction and know what he will do in a given situation. More people understand how McCain will handle things because he was direct and decisive. For Obama, it was just the constant everything is grey area and I can't really commit either way. What Obama sounded like was a guy who would be more influenced by polls in his decision making ala Bill Clinton. You don't have to agree with anything McCain said, but you have to appreciate the fact that he wasn't afraid to tell you what he thought. When asked about who they would look for guidance, Obama said his wife, McCain said a General. Is there anything else you need to know.

I think McCain did a great job. Obama did a good job at answering the questions, but I found McCain to be more forthright and more knowledgeable on a number of the issues he was asked about. I am a democrat; I was really impressed with McCain tonight. I'm also voting for him in November.

McCain has done a fantastic job. But remember that his audience is a conservative audience. I would think that would give McCain an advantage to start with.

McCain managed to find the balance between seriousness and humor and responded well to all questions I've heard thus far (McCain is still talking as I type this). All in all, McCain has done a tremendous job articulating his core values and where he stands on the issues.

McCain did so much better than I expected...Obama did worse. I can see now why Obama declined to be involved in additional debates and town hall meetings. Obama makes great speeches, but much of the thinking expressed in those are from his speech writers and advisers. McCain and Obama had to answer questions with the possibility of interruptions and having to answer with unrehersed advice. Obama did well, but he stumbled around. McCain was in his element.

McCain did nothing more than tell war stories. He didn't answer most of the questions - he diverted to story telling. The worst response was to the first question: Who are the 3 wisest people that you have known. Answer: Gen. Patraias, the second in command in Iraq (I don't recall the name), and, get this, the woman who created eBay!!! This is a man who is running for President, and comes up with that? He flopped big time, if anyone was really listening and analyzing what was said and not said by each of the 2.

Absolutely! He was fantastic, and that is totally what Americans needed to see! When he was asked 'what has been your moral failure in life' - he responded with the failure of his first marriage. If you really looked closely you could see he was tearing up at that (and his ex-wife is a supporter of him, stating he is a 'good man') whereas 'the other guy' just said 'oh I did some drugs and stuff'' (basically admitting he committed a felony in his younger days)

    He was really really good.

Yes! Liberals are going to hate the outcome of this! Maybe they will demand the next questioning session will be held at the church of Satan to balance the Christian church that they will blame for McCain looking good.

All I saw from Loose Lips Grampy McSame was stumping & pandering.

But, I loved the format. They should do more of these.

    Obama did very well.
