What kind of license do I need to drive in Europe?
I have a US license. Switzerland and Italy in particular.

Assuming that you are visiting those countries for tourist purposes, not to exceed 90 days, your U.S. driver's license is valid in most European countries, definitely in Switzerland and Italy. It must, however be accompanied by a translation or an international license. I would advice to check your local AAA in USA for an International license for just $15.

It would depend on the laws of the country you are visiting. My husband drives here in Hungary with his Nevada license but he has a Hungarian passport with him.
he is a dual citizen and they told him it was alright for him to drive with his US license. We have bought , sold and shipped cars here for years with no problem.

You will not always need one but I would apply for an International Drivers Permit, this covers you to drive overseas for up to one year as far as I know. They are available online from the AAA:
