RAM questions! RAM speed?

I am going to invest in some new RAM memory for my computer. I found a cheap stick online with free shipping, but I need to know if its worth buying.

Here are the specs. I am mostly concerned about the memory speed. Does it even make a noticeable difference?

Capacity - 1GB

Speed - DDR 400 (PC 3200)

Cas Latency - 3

Voltage - 2.5V

Thanks a lot!

Update:

Sorry I forgot to add some details... My computer IS an XP Professional, with Dimension 2400 hardware and a 32-bit system.

I have only 256 Ram installed already (shocking I know O_o) I am in desperate need of more. I trust this brand and It has a lifetime warranty.

Update 2:

sorry again... I have an Intel Celeron processor (2.40 GHz)

Cheaper is not always better. If its second grade memory you could have heat problems, computer errors, crashes, slow downs, etc. Brand is REAL important to me because of reputation and higher quality silcon and testing.

I suggest the company below that I have used since 1992

    Lifetime warranty and decent prices.

in case you have 4 slots make certain that the two sticks of 256 are in slots of an analogous shade ( i anticipate there are 2 gadgets of different colored slots, or a minimum of the thank you to tell how they'd desire to be put in in pairs?), the 1Gb in the different. If the two pair arent an analogous bus speed, your device will (i'll assert consistently) take the utmost person-friendly speed. you say its DDR2 RAM, yet what variety? If, say it became 2 256MB sticks of DDR2 that run at a decrease speed, then confident, the GB sticks will run on the decrease speed. suggestions? attempt to tweak putting in BIOS. the two way, greater reminiscence will produce greater advantageous consequences.

You are going to buy a new tyre for your car, and you ask if the tyre is suitable for your car but no one knows what car you have ?

  • how much do you have right now?

and yes it would probably make a noticable difference, especially running xp

your motherboard and processor dictates what type of ram it can use, it is not one ram fits all.
