Is racism uniformly bad?

How do I take interest in other cultures without being racist? How do I admire diversity by pretending differences don't exist?

Racism is -assuming- that a person has certain (usually bad) characteristics because of belonging to a certain race. There are people who think belonging to a certain -culture- develops certain characteristics, and people who think having a certain -genetic background- develops certain characteristics. It's possible that most racists don't even know the difference.

Learning about other cultures is not racism, especially if you keep in mind that, no matter how strange another culture seems, if you had been taken there as an infant and reared in that culture, you would see it as normal.

Racism isn't admitting differences in races it's the notion that one race is superior to another. That notion is not only uniformly bad but uniformly uneducated. The truth is that most racists don't bother to learn about diversity in other races but prefer to accept generalities and stereotypes because it requires much less thought.

I think you are confusing race with culture. You can have lots of races in one culture (e.g. USA, UK, South Africa - almost everywhere now really). However, some cultures are stereotyped with certain races.

Furthermore, some dictionaries define racism as 'hatred or intolerance of another race or other races'. This is in no way 'interest' or 'admiration of diversity' as you described.

What makes our world so beautiful is that different cultures exist and we can only expand our world and our minds by welcoming it into our lives and our minds. Where I live it is a melting pot and as a result I am open minded and enjoy very much the diversity of culture and mindset. It is by staying within a small space and not educating yourself keeps you confined and you fear what you do not understand.

Taking interest in other culture is pretty easy. You just listen learn and if you want apply. I try to take interest in many things I've never been exposed to or had interest in.

By incorporating it into your everyday life. Have a chinese or Italian take-away- your experience their food. Go to a history museum, you learn more about how we, as people, came to be. It will give you a better understanding. Where clothes influenced by countries- be it patterns or cuts. Talk to a variety of people, regardless of their race and if they invite you somewhere safe- go.

P.S. The differences makes it unique, just be accepting of them.

You can't do that but the liberals want you to. Notice you used "culture" instead of race. If you want to enjoy other races(higher iqs of east asians, endurance of blacks, etc) do so. It's actually gaining acceptance
