Who has taken a multiple choice math exam ?

I am finding it hard to believe that middle school and high school teachers are giving multiple choice exams. This is just more evidence that the teachers do not want to put in the extra effort.

Have you taken a multiple choice math exam and what do you think ?

I am in high school, and i still take Multiple Choice exams. They are much easier to deal with, and you know that one of the answer choices is right. If your answer that you got is not one of the choices, that means you made a mistake. I think that MC exams are a lot easier than regular ones. Maybe you made a simple mistake, like forgetting the decimal or something like that. In multiple choice, your wrong answer might be there to trick you though. but most likely it wont, especially if you made an uncommon mistake like thinking a 1 was a 7, then you can find out your mistake, and correct the answer. It's like having a second chance. On the downside, i totally hate bubbling in the scantron sheets. They are a total pain. If i accidentally fill in the wrong bubble, i'll get the problem wrong. My teacher would sometimes give us half credit if we almost got the right answer. with MC exams, we don't have that, but we do have the "second chance" as i said above. Overall, i do like multiple choice math exams, and they are convinient to take.

in multiple choice math exams....2 are noticeably wrong ..1 is the answer and 1 is a distractor answer which is awfully close example: 2x +5 = -5 a) -1 b) 5 c) -5 d) 3 C is correct but B is close .... this may seem easy... i did an easy example but in a timed exam u could make an easy mistake.... be sure to check over ur answers twice if u can.... just do the exam like u would a normal math test.. dont let the multiple choice get in the way... solve the problem and choose the right answer... dont look at the choices then try and solve it.. itll only confuse u... but if u cant figure it out... u can guess

I know that at the University of Toronto they give multiple choice term tests for the life science math courses. However, for the higher level maths we only get full solution tests/exams.

I think it's not a bad idea because it definitely alleviates the workload. Like the above answerer pointed out, you'll always have the high marks and the low ones.

I teach college. I've never given a multiple choice math exam, but routinely give (online) multiple choice math homework. Yes, it is indeed a matter of workload. (Ours is far greater than yours.)

I have found that final/midterm grades correlate almost perfectly to homework grades and attendance.

Trust me, A students are A students and F students F students.

Yes. I'm currently going into 9th grade and every year since 6th grade, we have had multiple choice exams.

I have to say, I hate them. The stupid scantron sheets and machines mark your answers wrong if you pencil went a little outside the line.

i like them better... it helps me know if im anywhere on track with my math... 2 answers will always be nowhere near correct && tha other two will be one right, && one wrong, but by a silly mistake.
