Disney World's Marathon Weekend - January 8-11? ?

Does anyone know if there will be big crowds? Will they be blocking off areas for running through the parks?

I've done it three times. It is usually crowded that weekend although it wasn't too bad this year. They do block off a path for the runners to run through at each park.Disney cast are there to help people pass through the runners. But by the time the parks even open to the public most of the runners are finished or at least nearly finished. It starts really early, I think around 6ish.

The parks are extremely busy during this weekend. January is a good time to go but before and after the marathon. The parks are not blocked off but I believe some roads you use to drive to the parks will be making for more traffic.

The crowds are heavier than other times on January, but manageable. The marathon starts at 6am and the longest run time allowed is just under 7 hours. So, the runners will be in the parks until around 1pm. If you are truly concerned, I would be happy to help you plan your itinerary and touring plans for your trip.
