de quervains in a 17 year old?

iv been diagnosed with de quervains but whats strange is that i dont do any strenous activity with my wrist so what could have caused it. it occurred overnight where i woke up and felt this pain in my wrist. its been like 6 weeks now and ultrasound,and acupuncture hasnt helped. the orthopaedic says hes gona do surgery.how long will it take to heal and will it recurr? verry worried as i m writing in 3 days time

    That is unusual as it is typically caused by repetitive gripping and twisting of hand thumb etc..Ultrasound and acupuncture don't help. You should try a cortisone injection first as this clears up about 90% of the De Q..you also need a thumb spica splint
