Interesting horror authors?
I want a list of your favorite horror authors. Except for Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and Richard Laymon (Since I already have books by them.)
If you can; list your favorite books by this author also.

Richard Matheson. He wrote I Am Legend (the book is way better and slightly different than the movie.) If you get the right edition of the book, it should come with like a dozen short horror stories at the end. I loved them. I don't know if he's written anything else, but it might be worth checking out. Also HP Lovecraft and Edgar Allen Poe. Stephen King is alright, but his new novels are just recycled plots with new characters - read his old stuff. You could try the classics. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. Dracula by Bram Stoker.

I like John Connolly - who's novels revolve around detective Charlie Parker. The best are, I think, "Every Dead Thing" (the first) and "The Killing Kind" (The third), but the others were all good. Also, Nocturnes (short stories, not in series) is very good and one of them ("the new daughter") is set to be made into the basis for a film shortly. Mind you, the Charlie Parker ones got a bit wierd/religious mostly from the Dark Angel onewards, but it's not so noticable in the first three/four.

I was going to say King and Koontz, but I agree with Kate D.
Edgar Allen Poe is a genius, read it!
Check out The Tell-Tale Heart by him as well.
I think you can just find it on the internet. It isn't that long, mind.

Ted Dekker.
Favorite books: Adam, Skin, and House.
He writes more thrillers than horrors, but I don't think I can handle much horrors. I'm a chicken. (:
