  • Are there any craft shows in the Chicago Area...?

...where I would likely turn a profit selling homemade needlecrafts like baby quilts, table runners, potholders, coaster sets, and stuffed animals? I know about websites like eBay and Etsy, but can anyone recommend any particular Chicago Area craft fairs where I might be able to make good money selling my crafts?

Serious answers only, please -- no no's, no idk's, no spam. I will personally award ten points to whoever gives me the most helpful answer. I am looking for the names of specific craft fairs, not just vague information about seasonal fairs in general.

  • What are the best cities in America for craftspeople and artisans to live and work in?

I know about websites like Etsy, eBay, and Amazon.com, but are there any particular cities in the United States where people stand a good chance at making a living selling high-quality homemade crafts? I'm asking this because I myself am a struggling home-based needlecraft business owner in a southern Illinois town where people praise the high quality of my crafts and could easily afford to buy them, but are so competitive and so ignorant of inflation that even those with little to no sewing experience act as though they could make my crafts at home themselves for less money than I charge for them (which they can't).

So now I'm seriously considering pulling up stakes and taking my business elsewhere after I finish college. I'm always reading Yahoo! News articles about America's best places to live, go to college, get a job, raise kids, etc., but I've never seen any such articles about America's best places to establish and maintain a successful career as an artisan or craftsperson. Can you recommend any such places to me?

Serious answers only, please. I will personally award ten points to whoever gives me the best answer.

  • Can anybody please help me identify this hard rock song about cult leaders?

There used to be a video on YouTube featuring a hard rock song about being a cult leader. The video has apparently been removed from YouTube, but I'm still searching for the song's title and artist; I can't find them anywhere on the Internet or in the fake books I've seen. The song was NOT Tech9ne's "Cult Leader," Adam Sandler's "Joining the Cult," or Incubus' "Purple Kool-Aid." I remember that the song featured the lyrics "I am not some hip-hop dog -- I am your human God!" and the refrains "I want to be a cult leader!" and "Cult leader, great leader, our leader!" And I remember that the video featured, among other things, images of notorious cult leaders such as Charles Manson, David Koresh, Marshall Applewhite, and Jim Jones, as well as pictures of mainstream religious icons like Jesus Christ and and of political leaders who have had cults of personality developed around them, such as Barack Obama and George W. Bush.

Other than that, I have no information about the song; I don't even remember who posted the video on YouTube. If somebody could identify the song's title and artist, this rock and roll and Comparative Religions junkie would greatly appreciate it. Serious answers only, please. I will personally award ten points to whoever gives me the best answer.

  • LGBT: Good news from California...?

Earlier today, it was announced that "the Governator" signed two bills -- one of which recognizes the validity of same-sex marriages performed outside California and one of which establishes Harvey Milk's birthday as an official day of recognition to honor the man and his contributions to the state of California and the human-rights movement in general. Your thoughts?

  • Is there anybody in or near Wellsville, Ohio, who could photograph a grave in a cemetery there?

I have a friend on the website www.findagrave.com who is looking for someone in or Wellsville to take photographs inside a cemetery there.

She didn't specify which cemetery (or cemeteries) she wants photographs from, or what grave(s) she wants photographs of. But if any of you might be of service to her, or knows somebody who might be of service to her, please let me know right away. Send me your email address so that I can relay it to her. I promise to keep your email address as confidential as possible.

  • R&P: Let's play "In My Pants"!?

You know how this works, right? Just add the phrase "in my pants" to any given song title(s).

EXAMPLE: "Wish You Were Here (In My Pants)"

I will personally award 10 points to whoever makes me laugh the hardest.

    Thanks!

  • What's a good treatment for bad cramps?

Sometimes when I get my period, I suffer these horrible stomach cramps on the first or second day. I get really constipated, sweaty, and nauseated (although I never throw up), and it feels like my ovaries are going to explode. When that happens, I don't have the energy to do anything except lie down on the floor in front of a roaring fan and moan for the next 45 minutes to an hour (which is about how long my cramps usually last before I'm able to get up and move around again -- and then I usually shiver for several hours because I spent so much time in front of the fan!)

I'm in college and have already missed two days of school because my cramps got so bad. I realize they could last for a lot longer, but dang it, I've got better things to do with my time than writhe on the floor

in the throes of agony from cramps. Pamprin didn't work very well for me. Advil works a little better, but sometimes I still get bad cramps, even when I'm taking it. Likewise, when I'm on my period, I try to drink water frequently to keep from getting too constipated. But that doesn't always work, either.

Does anybody here know of a (relatively inexpensive, safe) medicine that might be more effective at preventing bad cramps than Advil? Are there lifestyle changes (i.e. changes in diet or specific exercises) that can help prevent those cramps? Have any alternative therapies (i.e. acupuncture) or home remedies been known to treat or prevent severe cramps in women?
