Hey there buddy..... i'm sorry your son has been so unwell mate.... there really isn't any one known cause for mouth ulcers, stress plays a big part in it though.

Vitamin B3 rich foods will help eliminate canker sores ~ mouth ulcers and more often than not bad breath too. It will also give you healthier looking skin and help prevent and ease severity of headaches and migraines, reduce symptoms of diarrhea and increase circulation and reduce high blood pressure.

♥ Eat more foods rich in vitamin B3 (niacin) to heal and speed recovery of canker sores ie ~ fish, lean meats, whole wheat products, liver, wheat germ, eggs, organic roasted peanuts, the white meat of poultry, avocdadoees, dates, figs and prunes......... organic with the nuts to avoid the nasty sulfites and other chemicals they use to "preserve" them which will upset sensitive bodies.

Vitamin B3 is necessary for a healthy nervous system and brain functioning and lack of it will generally also bring about negative personality changes.

Go to a reputable health food store and get your son a multi B complex supplement ~ Grants does a good one in a liquid form... just halve the dosage given that's he's only 9.... mix it with some fresh juice for him as it tastes quite ghastly..... my little 8 year old daughter has just recovered from a nasty cold and also had sores in her mouth........ the B complex sorted it out in a few days. Also make sure you give him the B complex liquid with food to ensure efficient assimilation.

Make sure that it's one including all the B's ie: B1, B2 B3, B5, B6 and B12, folic acid etc... as they work best synergistically (together)....... do not take any of the B complex of vitamins individually, but rather as a whole complex, unless specifically instructed to by a nutritionally oriented physician or naturopath.

The B complex of vitamins is essential for healthy neural, digestive and immune system functioning and will help your son enormously in dealing with the stress of being ill.

If he is lactose intolerant or vegetarian then it is really important that you supplement his diet with a multi B complex tablet on a daily basis.

Things will rob you of your precious B complex of vitamins are :- stress, eating too much protein, alcohol, eating too much tinned food, laxatives and diuretics, antiobiotics, antidepressants, penicillin, prednisone and aspirin, otc cold and flu medicines.

Pump up his intake of freshly squeezed fruit juices too as they are rich in vitamin C and vitamin C will help to rebuild connective tissue and bolster his immunity.Vitamin C also reduces inflammation, stimulates the immune system and restores the mucous lining of the gastrointestinal tract.......... In addition, vitamin C creates an environment in the digestive tract that helps control the overgrowth of yeast, bacteria and parasites.

Vitamin C deficiency can contribut to digestive problems, as well as bleeding gums, increased susceptibility to infection, joint pain, unexplained bruising.

Also, try to cut back on drinks such as caffeine (??? he doesn't drink any caffeinated drinks does he), tea, sodas and soft drinks as they are all B complex thieves........ as well as being great at dehydrating you.

Oh, give him some Olive Leaf Elixir also. Olive leaf extract has been used as a natural antiotiobic for thousand years, but is only recently that scientific research has shown that its active ingredient oleuropein, has the ability to fight a broad range of infective microorganisms.... Oleuropein has been found to be effective in fighting bacteria, fungi, yeasts, parasites and viruses in laboratory studies.

Have a peek at this link buddy, it may interest you ~

    http://www.theherbprof.com/hrbOliveLeaf.htm

Don't buy the flavored variety as the flavoring reduces the active ingredient's (oleuropein) potency ....... it is very safe to give to a 9 year old.

Drink loads more fresh filtered water too as the healthiest and happiest body will always be the most hydrated one.

    take care of you

    peace baby

My daughter suffered from mouth ulcers all the time, doctors thought it might be because she brushed her teeth to roughly or she was under stress or sick.she suffered from the age of 9-13, luckily she seems to have outgrown them....touch wood.

All they could suggest was mouth ulcer cream, this helped but it was disguisting and didnt seem to stick to the ulcer, then she would keep touching her ulcer with her tounge,

Also once my daughter got a little older she used to just ride it out and they just became an annoying something she had to put up with.

Normally children get mouth sores when their stomach is upset, indigestion etc. Borax had been used from ancient times for stomach ulcers as well as mouth ulcers. In homeopathic doses normally not more than three doses in 30 potency are necessary. The main symptom for the use of Borax is fear of downward motion, and startling from sudden sounds. In the modern era, the nomal reason for stomach upsets is slight food poison by pesticides, or other reasons. One dose of Arsenic Album at 30 potency(three globules) usually remove the aphthae overnight and second doses usually need not be resorted to. In some cases where late sitting for study, examination and like give stress to children and give rise to worries and therefore, ulcers which is reflected as aphthae in the mouth too, and also if some one has taken too much coffee, tea and or with alcoholic drinks, Nux Vomica in 30 potency is found most effective. If it is with bad breath, either nux or Mercurious 30 will cure according to symptoms. If it is close to the joint of tthe tongue and mouth and one single one, Thuja will certainly cure with one single dose.

In the case of indigestion and high fever, the ulcers come out as eruptions and is outside the lips or mouth and are cured with Natrum Mur or arsenic album.

Aphthae in children only indicates an upset stomach. At the most a congested chest. Get well soon.

Source(s): al ways use medicine in consultation with doctor. for stubborn cases individual evaluation is necessary and medicines like antim cruden, natrum phos etc would be necessary. If cause is biting by mistake causticum 30 one dose should be used to stop that reflex problem and then healing.

It's a virus which is always in your system, but the sores can appear for a lot of reasons. I get them sometimes when I stay up late too many nights in a row working, for example. Certain vitamin deficiencies can make it worse as well. Get plenty of rest, a vitamin a day, reduce stress. That's the best advice I can give you to reduce them.

For a start, don't risk your child's health by using so-called health food shops.

Secondly, don't ask questions about your child's health in the alt-med section of YA. These people have no training in anatomy, medicine or chemistry and should not be interfering in anyone's health, let alone that of children.
