    Ok.

possibly it is a gambit to get you to go to a site to "clean it"

Two routes you can go. If you have not shut off, go to "Avast" antivirus (goggle all these things) and DL their home antivirus. It has some special clean up and tools built in.

Then go get these apps and DL them...

    JAVATOOLS spyware blaster

    Spybot Search and Destroy

    CCleaner

    Panda Anti-root kit.

    Install in this order

    1) Javatools. Protect and DL updates and protect again

    2) Spybot Search and Destroy. Immunize and update and immunize again. Don't restart yet

    3) Avast Anti-Virus. Install and if you need to restart, go ahead- and do a system scan on reboot if it asks you to.

After you update Avast and the above two apps, run CCleaner. Browse to your root (C:\documents and settings\[you account name here]\application data\microsoft\internet explorer..." and clean the recycle bin and temp folders.

Defrag your hard drive and reboot using Panda Anti-root kit and have it search for a root kit.

At worst, you probably simplyl got a browese high-jacker- mostly harmless if you don't get on line using the same app. instead, go DL one more app- Mozilla Firefox (v2 or v3...) and you ought to be good to go.

If any of the above finds viruses, get on "systeminternals" forums and ask there for more detailed help. Usually viruses replace windows *.dll's which in normal language is parts of the operating system (like bolts in your car) to make it run correctly. At worst, a virus can corrupt your data or render your machine inoperable, though both are rare.

Oh, and stay off the sites you were on when you got this- lol.

That is some hardcore spyware. We've been going through hell at work to remove it. Unfortunately the Antivirus XP 08 is the spyware/irus!

Head over to www.superantispyware.com and download their free version and make sure to update. I know its a cheesy name but we have it installed at work and it a magical app!

Good luck, this particular form is vicious

P.S. to the above poster, using superantispyware we have yet had to reload the OS...But their warning about not clicking or agreeing to cure your system is 100% valid. DO NOT AGREE TO ANYTHING. A friend did it and she spent well over $100, she did get it back but damn.

your best bet at this point is to back up all your stuff and reinstall. You might be able to get rid of the obvious one, but that one probably opened the door for others to come in. The end result is your computer is an infected mess. Anti-virus and Anti spyware programs are great for keeping you from getting infected, but once it happens, they aren't much help and generally do more harm than good.
