For health care professionals - Blood pressure?
I'm scared. My blood pressure is 190 over 130. I used one of those cheap blood pressure monitors but still its probably pretty high. Since it takes forever to see your doctor anymore, what can I do in the mean time to help lower it? Thank you

A blood pressure of 190/130 is quite high and should be brought down immediately to avoid all complications. Please see your doctor immediately for necessary treatment and advice.

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

I would start by going to an urgent care facility and seeing a doctor right away. You really need to get this blood pressure down as soon as possible and investigate why it might be happening. You really need to seek medical attention urgently. If you have to, you should go to an emergency room.
With this level of high blood pressure, medications are required.

While anxiety CAN raise blood pressure, other factors can influence it, especially fluid deficit. You have to take more than just BP into consideration, and some people with anxiety may not have increased BP. It is very possible to be anxious and have low blood pressure. In fact, if your pressure gets low enough, that fact alone can cause anxiety. Look at the bigger picture instead of focusing on one parameter.

With blood pressure this high, you shouldn't have too much problem getting the doctor office to "squeeze you in". Nut when you call to make the appoiintment, tell tham that YOU measured this high. I am pretty sure that they will get you in ASAP.
SOmetimes doctor work in "groups" or "associations". It may be possible that if YOUR doctor can't see you, then another one will. IF they work together, then they talk togtheer about the cases they share, so it IS ok to see one of the other doctors in your doctor's "group".
If they can't get you in before Wednesday, then go to the ER.
BTW: The cheap monitors aren't all that accurate, but they are close enough that these readings should worry you.

Make sure that the cuff is not too small. If the monitor is correct this is a true emergency. 130 is very high and more that 120 is a true emeregency.
It could make you bleed in the brain. Aren't you having headaches, blurred vision, any symptoms?.
I would go to emergency room right away and at least they can lower the dangerous high levels before you bleed.
At least you can put your feet in hot water in sitting position but again that will be temporary measure and you will do that if there are no medical facilities around you.

Walking 30 minutes a day will dramatically reduce your blood pressure. I know it sounds silly, but try it. You should notice some difference the first day, but a significant difference by third day.
