what is the point of studying history?

ok, i'm not really against of studying history

but i saw one on T.V. and he said that "what's the point of studying history? it is the past and there is nothing we can do anything about it to change history, better find a good job"

so he's like saying that what's the point of studying what happened to world war 2 or the civilizations, neolithic age, bronze etc....

If you don't know where you have been, you won't know where you are and you may not end up where you want to be and you won't know how to get back on track to get to where you want to go.

And those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it.

yeah, we can't change history. but we can fully understand our present situation by looking back to our past. forgetting our past is synonymous to forgetting brilliant persons like Einstein, Da Vinci, Roosevelt etc.

Past experiences also inspire and challenge us.
