If you are off the clock (lunch hour, break) and company policy allows you to use your office computer for personal business, then there would be no problem. Most companies don't allow this though, so unless you're certain yours does, you better save your playing on the internet until you get home.

of course you shouldn't be browsing the internet, you are at work, you are getting paid this is tantamount to stealing (you are getting paid whilst not working), some companies have a policy that whilst you are on a break can use the internet but mostly but t it is not allowed. Where i work (with computers) we have just been given internet access for whilst we are on a break and it has caused nothing but trouble as people are surfing the web when they should be earning their wages. many are now on warnings, believe me this is a quick way for you to get in trouble.

I'm horribly guilty of doing this. I get so bored, and there's an odd thrill about doing something I well know I shouldn't. Everybody, with a few exceptions, who works in an office does personal business. But wrong is wrong. I really need to rethink that. The tracker software is all too real and Big Brother IS watching.
Thanks for the nudge for me to rethink my work ethic. I have a great job and it would be a travesty to lose it b/c of net surfing.

No, most companies don't allow you to use internet for personal rasons. Either they put a block on the sites or they have a tracker software installed that tells them what you are doing online. It is a very common practice used in today's businesses.

If I was on a computer that long, I don't know if I would even have the desire to surf the web! lol
But, I don't think its a big deal if you check your email every so often, as long as it is not interfering with your job.
