I want a flat stomach =[.?

Hey, I'm 17 years old, 128pds and I have a baby gut lol. It's a lot bigger than I want it to be & I a lot smaller. I mean, I don't want a six pack or anything cus I don't think they look right on females but I just want a flat stomach. & I also have a "pouch" under my stomach that I'm embarrassed about. I drink a lot of water & I heard thats good for your stomach area but you can never really tell so yeah..

I don't work out & theres not a gym within 10 miles of my house. & gas is OUTRAGOUS right about now ($4.52/gal where I live). Any help? Oh, and my mom never really buys healthy foods. Idk how to ask her to buy them cus she might think I'm up to something & then she'll go into "oh hush, you look fine the way you are now" & I just don't wanna hear that.. AGAIN. So yeah.. help?

Keeping a food journal really does help. It will give you a much better sense of how much you are eating, and when, and why.

Make a few small changes - walk everywhere, always use stairs instead of elevators, walk on escalators, get up and move around at least once an hour if your work or your life in general is sedentary, walk every day, use a pedometer. Walking 10,000 steps a day is a really good idea. Build up to a long brisk walk everyday, or most days. Be more active and watch less TV and spend less time on the computer.

Start a weight lifting routine at honme. It will help increase your metabolism and make you feel and look better in so many ways. You can use items from around the house. Two of the links I've included explain how. Weight lifting will increase your metabolism as well as improve posture and appearance overall.

In terms of diet, cut out or reduce things like junk food, pop, fat, fast food. Eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meat, fish. Particularly if you choose a vegetarian lifestyle include natural peanut butter, hummus, dried fruit and nuts. Pay close attention to getting the nutrients your body needs to be healthy. Drink plenty of water, at least 8 big glasses a day, and more if it is very hot, it you sweat a lot, or if you are exercising intensely. You will begin to see changes in your body.

Check out websites about nutrition, exercise, weight training, etc. Here are a couple of helpful links.

Don't you worry about driving to the gym! There are plenty of fabulous exercises that you can do at home all on your own! Check out the websites in the "sources" section, and I'm sure they'll help if you're dedicated.

When it comes to food, try asking your mother if maybe she wants to try some new great recipes that you've found (healthy ones, of course!) and she'll need to go purchase the ingredients for those. Otherwise, tell her that you have been doing some research on healthy diets and you think that you'd like to start eating better. Offer to pay for a portion of the grocery bill if it is the money she's upset about.

    Good Luck!!!

try your best to eat the healthiest you can as well as running and doing sit ups. run at least one mile a day (start out with running as much as you can handle, then gradually work your way up). then do between 30 to 100 sit ups or crunches a day. also, try to have 6 small meals a day, rather than 2 or 3 big ones. and it's great that you're drinking a lot of water! :) that helps a lot! I hope all goes well, and try to convince your mom to buy more good stuff, especially fruit and veggies. I'm a vegetarian and I've never really had too much trouble with my weight, so maybe you can consider that. but please, don't starve yourself. it's so unhealthy and it can even make your stomach look bigger at times, and the same goes for bulimics. good luck! :)

God i have the same problem. I am totally petite but i have a gut!

($4.52 a gallon is CHEAP! try living in the uk woman!)

Anyway. The best way to a flat stomach is sit ups! start of doing a few a night with ur feet under a pipe or under a bed or something and then start doing more. Do this every night before you go to sleep and you will really see the difference!

Offer to your mom to buy the groceries and cook meals. This way, YOU could choose what you eat and make, and I bet your mom would enjoy not having to cook or go grocery shopping (works for me! =P). Be sure to eat a wide variety of foods-- grains, veggies, fruit, protein, and dairy. Try to eat something of every color each day. Keep drinking lots of water (especially while exercising).

If you want to get more exercise, take daily jogs around your neighborhood while listening to music (it doesn't have to be a long walk/jog, just as long as you take walks at least a couple times a week). I find that really refreshing and it's not boring like lifting weights. And it works a whole bunch of muscles. If there are any stores or friends' houses near yours, you can walk there instead of drive.

well you could always work out outside

try to find a pool or something where you can run laps

ride a bike around... (saves gas lol)

try running / speedwalking around... (saves gas lol)

and btw if you gain a little bit more muscle, your metabolism goes up

    and that'll help as well

oh yeah and about the food.... i had the same problem with my mom the only way to solve that is to basically....

talk to her, have a longgg conversation and tell her why you want to start eating healthier and why you think it's important

either that or you can just go and buy food on your own
