My six month old Lab?

My six month old has been shedding like crazy lately. It has never been like this before. It seems like I am having to vac his hairs every third day. Any reason why he would be shedding more than usual? Is there anything I can give him in his food to get the shedding down?

He probably just changed over from his puppy coat to his big boy coat completely and thats why he is shedding so much so suddenly. And, just your luck, its shedding season! If he is eating adult food now, you can try switching to Pedigree Lamb & Rice formula, which is designed to create the healthiest skin and coat. We have been feeding it to my two year old for 3 weeks and his "doggy dandruff" has already been resolved. Also the FURminator works wonderfully.

First off, your dog could be shedding for many reasons, change in seasons, stressful situations, and other things. If you give your dog premium dog food it should help with the shedding. My dog sheds a lot also and I brush her daily and her shedding has really gone down. If her shedding gets really bad I use a really good product called the furminator. It works very well and gets almost all excess hair out. *I hope this helps :)

It sounds like he's losing his puppy coat. And yes, labs do shed a lot, anyway. There are some food additives that will help keep shedding down, though, since they keep his coat healthier--check at your local pet store. Also, regular brushing will help a lot, and my lab/Weimeraner mix loves to be brushed.

Not really. Labs shed like mad. I have to brush around Eli's crate every single day. I vacuum every day. I steam my carpet once a week. He eats a good quality food - Canidae. Daily brushings help a tad bit, but, not a lot. Welcome to the world of owning a wonderful dog! I ♡ my Lab!

Shedding can happen for a number of reasons... stress, change in climate/temperature... Anyway, try out the FURminator. It is supposed to work VERY well.

He could be doing it for many reasons. Make sure he's on a high quality food. Also look to see if Brewers Yeast is one of the ingredients. That helps with coat and skin.
