Does anyone else just feel defeated by Trump?
At first I tried to protest him and his actions, but nothing happened. It was as if I were invisible to him and his administration. All they saw were the cheering crowds at his rallies, and my voice made no difference, nor did the suffering of other people at his hands. I feel like I imagine an abused spouse feels--when it first starts you protest, but when it continues, then gets worse, you start to give up, and forgetting that there ever was a life when you were free, and human rights were important to the government. You want to escape, but it would mean leaving your home and everyone you loved behind you. Meanwhile, others keep insisting nothing is wrong, that he is a wonderful person, and you even start to doubt yourself--maybe things always were this way.
7 AnswersPsychology3 years agoWhat ever happened to manners and compassion in our society?
The more I read about Trump supporters who rail against Political Correctness, against helping the poor, against allowing in immigrants, etc., the more I wonder where the universe changed. When I was growing up, I was encouraged to show good manners, which included not insulting anyone, including those not like me (it was called manners then, not political correctness), and to follow the Golden Rule--do unto others as they would do unto you. So if you found someone who was suffering, you tried to help. Every religion I know of has the Golden Rule--why isn't it followed anymore?
2 AnswersPolitics4 years agoGood, inexpensive crafts for seniors?
We have a new manager at my parents' assisted living, and she wants to get the residents as involved as possible. She's checking Pinterest and the usual sources, but she also is asking for all the ideas anyone has. Anyone know of anything unique and not too expensive?
2 AnswersSenior Citizens4 years agoCould someone please explain to me the almost religious fervor Trump's followers have?
Every time I try to have a logical debate on his policies, like I would about any other politician, I get shouted down with cries of "Libtard!" or "Fake news!" as if there's no reasoning with them. Sure, every news story has a bias, but the facts themselves are usually correct, but they ignore ot insult anything others see as a character flaw in Trump. And please don't shout me down again--I want a real answer.
15 AnswersPolitics4 years agoWhat is life like in New Zealand?
I no longer recognize my home country. Even a few years ago, I believed I was in the majority. That we were a country that welcomed immigrants, that thought education was important, that believed in helping those who were less fortunate than we are. Now that Trump has been elected, I see that I'm wrong. I've never been ashamed of the U.S. before, and I was always proud to be an American, but I don't think I can live in a country that demonizes people like me as much as they do now. I want to leave, to find somewhere far away, so that when Trump gets us into war my family and I will be safer. Somewhere that still respects others and their points of view, that still values personal freedom, and where I don't have to be ashamed of not agreeing blindly with our leadership. I've been looking into government websites which say how accepting New Zealand is. Is it true?

12 AnswersPolitics5 years agoWhy is Trump bragging about the birther movement?
It seems to me that what he's bragging about is that he was enough of a loudmouth to make the President of the United States stop and take time off from his duties running the country just to prove that Trump was lying about him, yet Trump still pursued it for 5 more years after he had been proven wrong! Is it that he had the power to distract from the running of the country even though he was lying? If I were proved wrong, I sure wouldn't keep bringing it up!

Doesn't anyone else see the irony in the fact that Republicans who are railing against the rich and powerful have chosen their leader to be...Donald Trump?

I just formed a corporation on January 25, and now I got a letter from the IRS saying I need to file a Form 1120. But the form's for 2015, and we weren't even started yet! Should I just fill it in with 0's, since at that time there were no assets or debits?
3 AnswersUnited States5 years agoHow can I get high-speed internet?
I only live about 5 miles from Indianapolis, yet there aren't any high-speed internet services in my area--I'd have to go to satellite, and even then Dish and Direct TV don''t cover us. There is a gizmo that T Mobile is advertising that I think will let me stream movies--does anybody know about it, or any other alternatives?

I just got an iphone, and my husband got me gift cards for both itunes and google play. I bought music from both, and I downloaded them all, but I can only listen to them separately. Is there a way to make one big library?

1 AnswerMathematics5 years agoDo these sound like a good combination for a kitchen?
I want to redo my kitchen, and I know what I like, but I keep seeing pictures in do-it-yourself magazines showing similar colors as the "before" pictures (i.e., they're outdated). I'd like to use light oak cabinets with brushed nickel hardware and stainless steel appliances, a dark "wood" floor (actually tile made to look like wood so it will wear better), dark brown, stone-like countertops, and a backsplash made of small, rough marble tiles. I'd use blue accents. Does this sound good?

4 AnswersSingles & Dating6 years agoHow well does vinyl plank flooring hold up?
I'm getting ready to remodel my kitchen and dining room, and I want to put something down that's durable, but I want the look of wood. Since the kitchen is pretty high traffic, I don't want to use real wood. How well will the vinyl plank hold up, and how easy is it to keep clean?
3 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling6 years agoMy husband's about to have his hip replaced--what do we need?
He's been in severe pain for the past few years, so he's actually looking forward to it. I know we'll need things like an elevated toilet seat, a grabber and maybe cushions so he can hold his hip in the right position at night, but what else should we get that will be especially helpful?
1 AnswerPain & Pain Management6 years agoIs this unusual?
I never really thought about it, but recently something came up, and i was wondering if other people do it, too. When I hear words, I also "see" them in my head, like a subtitle, especially if I'm listening to music. It makes me a great speller, but how strange is it to do this?
