Can't a 16 year old like me just listen to her music peacefully?

I listen to practically the same music as you (I'm 14), and when people somehow just pick up my ipod and look through the songs, they usually go, "What the heck is wrong with you? You don't have any good songs!" Then I have to point out that it's MY ipod and not theirs. Those close-minded people always download the popular song, listen to it, always get tired of it, and move on to the other. Usually they never listen to that song ever again. How are you supposed to enjoy what your hearing if you keep on dumping it out? And people always have different tastes, sometimes similar and sometimes completly opposite.

My playlist has like the smallest amountn of rap on it... Perhaps one or two songs out of the rock-ish ones which I've got. Who says that a person who only likes rap is going to like my music? There's so many types out there, and you've got to accept them all. If you don't like one kind, you don't spit words on them, you gotta accept it.

So yeah, I experience this and I agree 100% with you. But we've also got to accept that some people just can't accept that.

I agree..now days there into all the techno **** i dont mind it.

But all the music with real lyrics came from the classic bands!!

i love all the bands you mentioned they have the most expression into there lyrics. Its sad that only a small amount of people still appreciate them. Though i'd rather be a self-individual who listens to music not created by trends and sterotypes.

Because these bands represent the true meaning of expression and music!! aha these kids need to be educated!!

AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! First Off, I love Tokio Totel so...Amazing, and the Smiths...And MCR...And Pink Floyd...And....most of the bands on that list but I know exactly what you mean. I get it all the time because I love such a wide variety of music. It's annoying yes yes, I know

All the bands in the second paragraph suck. Some of the bands in the third are good(Nirvana, the Beatles, Queen, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Metallica, Guns n Roses, Bon Jovi, and Aerosmith)

oh,this is what happens to me....my uncle left our home some days ago, but when he was here for 1 year, he really used to annoy me, first he liked McR and my choices of music, but these 2 months, oh.....

he always said "you're an obsessed with McR'....or any other thing.

he said "poor, rock isn't the end of music, Jazz is skillfully"....although when I asked him his favorite musicians(or bands) he said " Pink Floyd, U2, and Metallica.....

it's annoying......

People always question my music

too because I am only 11 years old.

And some people don't think I listen

too Justin Timberlake,Outcast,Timbaland,

or other stuff like Pharrell. My sister always

says 'You listen too [insert name here] ?'

I always say, 'Is that a problem?'. People

just don't get me ya' know.

yeah i get that. for example, i listen to stuff like All That Remains, HIM, Green Day, Muse and stuff like that. but depending on my mood, not only do i like listening to stuff like Queen, i sometimes like to listen to Bob Marley, or a song or two by James Blunt.

i wish people would be more open-minded. you should listen to what you like, whatever makes you feel good.

yeah i do experience that its annoying. i like bands like tokio hotel and aerosmith but i also listen to bands like the rascal flatts and eminem.

that irratates me too, I mean I love that kind of music but i also love classic rock, 70's punk, and just about anything rock, I just listen to newer rock alot too
