What do you guys think about AK banning gay/les. adoption and fostering?

i think it is absoloutely rediculous. just shows the evil judgement of people. why should gays have less rights? shouldn't they be treated equally just like everyone else?

this angers me. what are your thoughts??

here's the story incase you guys haven't read it..

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/t...

Update:

sorry, i meant AR. I thought the abb. for arkansas was ak

Update 2:

Raichasa- i don't agree on the unmarried couples statement either. why should the government be telling you if your unmarried, or a gay couple, then you can't adopt children? so are children better off in no homes or abusive homes? i don't understand. i think this is the dumbest law ever.

Update 3:

Kaaarl- yes, your right. i think church and state should always be completely seperate, and now individual beliefs are being forced into law.

k, the only qualifications that should b needed 4 adoption is love and stability. thats all i ever wanted and is all that should b required.

gays i know r the most loving, supportive and life giving people i have ever known. they r family, their whole community is family.

something the rest of society can learn a lot from.

    k, i'm done and out

    b good b safe and give someone a hug 2 day, k? :o)

    oh, i'm back :oP

raichasays other states r talking about not recognizing the marriages of gays and lesbians. So CA and MA would b the only states that gays and lesbians would b recognized as married. am i wrong?

k, i'm wrong. that constitution thing again. something tells me thats going 2 change. LOL

The article says the petitioners want to ban unmarried couples, not just unmarried gays/lesbians.

Simple solution for everyone: get married. Gays/lesbians can get a legal marriage in California and a marriage in one state must be recognized in all the others. (Full faith and credit clause of the Constitution.)

p.s. - I thought this was going to be about Alaska. The postal code for Arkansas is AR.

Apparently it is healthier for a child to grow up with no parents or abusive parents than in a home with two loving same sex parents. That is astounding.

The child protective services is over burdened with hundreds of thousands of children, yet we turn away prospective parents becuase of who the choose to love.

We live in a remarkable archaic society.

i totally agree. gays and lesbians want to get married and have kids, let them. who do the conservatives think they are to decide how people should lead their lives? and im sure that the child they adopt would be incredibly grateful to grow up in a home with 2 loving parents regardless of sexual orientation, rather then in a state facility. then again...im from cali...we're very liberal out here maybe well rub off on the rest of the US

I have never quite understood this either. If 2 people are happy together why are some so offended.

I think it's origin is religious. Fundamentally one set of people think it is their manifest destiny to have everybody live as "godly" as they are. According to their beliefs, god created hetro only.

I think that is the belief system.

The society we live in and the government we have should always be secular. I think its absurd and bigoted of them to think they can do that. It just goes to show you that people still are trying to take over our lives with their beliefs.

Well, you know some people just can't seem to get into the 21st Century.
