Is Alabama leading the wave of the future with the "FAT TAX'' ?

Update:

Using the tax dollars could go to Fat Training on how not to be FAT. America is the FATEST nation on earth today. Should there be "change" ?

I am a Alabamian and I have no idea what you're talking about. The only thing Alabama has done in reference to obesity is require that state employees have a BMI of 35 or less or they will pay $25/mo for health insurance. Alabama already has state employees who are tobacco users pay $25/mo for health insurance. (By the way, Alabama state employees have 100% employer paid health insurance.)

I'm not sure if their exactly leading the way. I think they may be going about it in the wrong way. There are other ways to get people to lose weight than to have them pay $25 dollars more a month in health insurance. Alabama already charges smokers 24 dollars more a month. I think a more positive approach should be used. Why couldn't they still offer weight watchers and ymca discounts without the 25 dollars extra a month
