Who here is a Republican but doesn't care about abortion?
I see that the party of my choice has once again pandered to the religious right and taken a hard line against abortions.
I personally don't care if someone wants an abortion as its not any of my business.
I also don't care about any religious propaganda being a part of politics as I don't support the intertwining of religion and government.
Do you think that the party has let us normal members down in favor of a small yet overly zealous and all too vocal minority?

I always liked Barry Goldwater. He didn't care about gays or abortion. I don't either. Marry whoever you want. Abort your fetuses if you want. Its none of my business.
Less government. More liberty and freedom. That's important.
The democrats don't want that. They want to take your liberties away, one right at a time just the same as the religious right does too.
They have both sorely disappointed me.
However, until a third party emerges with the kind of popular strength that it takes to bring Americans together rather than divide them, the Ratpublicans are my choice, even though I disdain the right wing entirely. I take no issue with their personal views. They are just not my own and I aim to keep my own moral views without theirs being imposed on me by force of law.

I'm a republican, and I can't go as far to say I don't care. But, I guess I feel like a lot of people. I am 100% against it, but that doesn't mean my view should be forced on others.
What I am against is the Democratic agenda that allows teenagers to get abortions without the parents even knowing about it, and tax dollars paying for it.
I dont think I should be forced to pay for others to have abortions, and the parents should know.

It's not a major issue to me.
My issue with abortion is that it isn't within the federal government's purview; it is a state law issue.
While the judges I would have on the bench would likely overturn the Constitutional obscenity that Roe v. Wade is, all that would do is remand the decision back to the state legislatures, where it belongs.
You see, it doesn't matter that a President is for or against abortion - it's not the federal government that's going to legislate it.

Roe vs Wade will be reversed in our lifetimes because we were not able to separate church and state.
No longer do student pledge allegiance to the flag of this country because some are "offended" by it. They're offended by prayer in school but have no problem spending the money that says in God We Trust.
Unfortunately the squeaky wheels seem to have the money to buy their way

I am a Republican who agrees with the party in most areas except:
I am pro-choice
I agree with stem-cell research
I want to keep religion and politics separate
But the alternative is a radically, socialist, affirmative action, tax and spend mess. So I vote with the Reps on a national level and try to keep States Rights in place to prevent the zealots from taking over the issues that I don't agree with.

I would vote Republican over Democrats even if the abortion issue was reversed. The fact is the Democrats economic and foreign affairs policies are causing stagnance to all nations who have tried it.

I am an agnostic Conservative who DOES care about abortion but realizes that it will probably never be overturned as a right (unfortunately).
Why do you assume that all anti-abortionists are religious?
- Bonkers!Lv 71 decade ago
I dont because it comes up election after election and no matter who wins, abortion is not affected. I realize it could be, but so far it never has been.

Pro-life people need to realize that abortion rights are not going away. We've had 5 pro-life Republican presidents since Roe vs. Wade and none of them have been able to overturn it.
