OKAY! This is really simple. Let's review the formula: y=mx + b
Here, the problem is nice so they gave you m, which is the slope. Fill it in.
1. y = -5x + b
2. y = -4x + b
3. y = 1/2x + b
Now, next, we have to find b. Let's do the first one first. The points are (3, -9). As you know, 3 = x, and -9 = y. Fill it in.
1. -9 = -5(3) + b
-9 = -15 + b
Let's isolate the b, which is the y-intercept.
Just add 15 to both sides...
6 = b
So, we know that 6 =b.
The correct answer for the first problem is y = -5x + 6.
Simple, eh?
Let's run through the other problems.
2. 8 = -4(1) + b
8 = -4 + b
12 = b
Answer: y = -4x + 12
3. -2 = 1/2(4) + b
-2 = 2 + b
-4 = b
Answer: y = 1/2x -4
Hope I helped! Pick me for best answer, please (:

slope intercept form: y=mx+b, where m is the slope and b is the y intercept(where the line crosses the y axis)
so your problem gives you everything except b so put all that in to find b: remember, points are written (x,y).
-9= -5(3)+b
multiply: -9= -15+b
add 15 to both sides. you are trying to get b on one side and what you do to one side you have to do to the other: 6=b. now you have b and m, so those are constants for your line. x and y change as the points change. final equation: y= -5x+6
now, try the others:
8= -4(1)+b
12=b so y= -4x+12
-2=1/2(4)+b
-2=2+b
b=-4 so y=1/2x-4

y=-15x+36 i think thats slope intercept form..

y=mx+b
idk i can't think of that right now it should be in your text book or just type that into google
