Should I take ASE tests now?

I am ready and know I will pass at least 2 ASE tests and my teacher wants me to sign up for November ASE tests but they require 2 years of work experience or 4 years of training to become certified. I took 2 yrs of autoshop in high school and I'm on my second year of collision at college so if I take the tests in November can I be certified in June? Or should I just take the tests in May?

i am an ase master tech...the shade tree wrench that gave you the answer about ase wont get u a job here.....well.... hes a perfect example why u need the certs ...he can stay under that tree, that's as far as hes ever going......20 years from now he will still be under that same tree............ .......ase is the pinnacle of automotive repair and knowledge........period.......its something to be proud of and in the real working world its the difference between a job that starts at 8.00 an hour and one that starts out for 18.00 dollars an hour and more...the people that knock ase can't obtain the certs or they would have them....take the test in may...it will give you even more time to gain experience

does an ASE certification mean anything to anyone where you live? because it will not get you a job here.

    to recap...

an ASE certification and a buck will get you a soda from a vending machine.
