Running hard everyday takes a while to get used to. It took me a whole year to really kick it into gear. But now that I'm used to it I'm one of the top girls on my team. You should stop drinking pop, it give you cramps and eat a lot of fruit. Also you need to hydrate yourself, trust me if you're fully hydrated you will feel A LOT better. But in the mean time, don't beat yourself up if your not up at the top of the group, it takes a while. So stick with it and you'll get really good! Good luck!

Many strategies for getting better at running depend on the person. For me, I don't like to eat before I run, but for others they like to eat about an hour before their practice. Experiment to decide what works best, but no matter what, always drink a little water before your practice.
As for getting faster, the best way is to keep running and pushing yourself. You should try to build up a mileage base, so that your speed work can build off of it. If you can work your way to running six miles a day(don't increase mileage too fast) then your results will get better. During the long runs though, make sure you don't go at a snails pace and you feel tired but not completely dead by the end.

Well its the third day of practice your going to be slow. Just focus on pushing yourself and working hard. and be patient, your not going to get faster overnight, but you will get faster in time.
I find a strategy which works for me is to find the slowest person ahead of me and try to keep pace with him, this pushes you to go at a faster pace, and in time get comfortable with it. and then when your equal or even faster than that person you move on to the next one. This will allow you to consistently increase your pace.
Try a glass of water an hour to 45 minutes before your practice, I find this works wonders when it comes to energy If possible eat something small ( a piece or two of toast, half a bagel ( no cream cheese) 2 granola bars etc. about three hours before the run, if you can't manage that than don't eat anything at all.
at least that's what works for me but people differ when it comes to eating and drinking before running, you have to experiment for yourself.
And remember puking and gagging, and cramps, and unbelievably sore legs are going to happen while running. The fast runner is not always the one who avoids these things all together, but the one who pushes through them.
Were all cheering for you. hard work will make you faster, just give it time.

Dont worry about it. It's the 3rd day of practice....in time ur body will get used to running and u will not puke or get cramps. Just endure for like the first month, after that its a piece of cake

my 1st day of practice was the same way i almost puked several times it's just your body's way of getting used to working so hard.
i quit about a week ago but am rejoining I'm also the slowest in the bunch but i don't care cause i know if i keep working at it i will succeed at it and work the best i could do.
i good thing to eat is alot of carbs like spaghetti
also have some potassium in your diet like orange juice and squash
this helps alot

many of those other kids that are faster most likely trained before official practice started. Yea the 3rd day you're going to be slow and sore, and not be able to keep up. It takes me about 1.5-2 weeks for my legs to not be sore anymore. After that I started bumping up mileage, and soon after start doing a little speed work.

don't you dare quit!
today was my third day too and yea i almost threw up to but i finished fourth :D lol
whatever you do, DON'T stop running!
just like you, i had to push myself super hard so i wouldn't throw up or fall down.
eventually you will get faster, and stronger, you just need some time to build up your endurance.
when you get home i suggest a hot bath to help your muscles relax and go to like walgreens or walmart and get glucosamine sulfate to help your joints
good luck and hang in there :)
