To any Health Professionals - Tylenol configuration?
Please tell me what configurations Tylenol is available in. In the UK Paracetamol [Tylenol] is available as a 500mg tablet and other variants add Codeine at 8mg or 30mg.
Some posters are recommending two or three Tylenol. This would be an OD if it referred to Paracetamol in the 500mg form.
Please give actual sources as the potential for error is more than I am happy with.
[Red] I'm not freaking. Taking so many as to induce vomiting can be less harmful than a taking a few. Absorbtion is dependant upon many factors and major organ failure can be caused by quite small overdoses.

Evidently 3 tabs are not likely to be a problem, but do you actually know how small the risk is, or are you guessing?
Consider that todays kids are often drinking more alcohol, more frequently.
[Sarah] Thanks I hadn't spotted the 325mg when I tried to reasearch this.
I'm also interested in knowing what actual amounts are included in variants that include Codeine or other opiates.

I am not familiar with the UK doses. However, here in the US Tylenol comes in different doses-
It comes in 325mg tabs
500mg tabs
It also comes in a suspension for children
There is a concentrated suspension for infants- sorry- I can't recall the dose per ml. on these.
Tylenol is also an additive to narcotics - usually 500mg with hydrocodone 5's . Tylenol #3 with codeine- I think it is 325mg or 500
It is also in percocet
Tylenol also comes in a junior strength or adult strength suppository.

uk doses - 500mg . you are hardly going to die from 2 or 3 500mg paracetamol. actually, its recommended 1-2 on the pack. if you are bitching too much about pain someone may suggest a third.
you wont have a problem. ive known people that overdosed on paracetamol, im talking like 50-70 tablets and you just puke up. no permanent damage. obviously not advisable but i would stop freaking about a three paracetamol OD if i were you.
or just take one if you are nervous. i dont see the big deal, the pack says 1-2 tablets of 500mg.
the risk is virtually nill with three, i would bet it IS zero. unless you were allergic to paracetamol. i equally know people who took 50 paracetamol (500mg) with half bottles of vodka, and they were fine too, not even a puke. ok, they fell asleep but were fine the next day. and thirty years after that too. only 0.5% of on purpose over doses of paracetamol actually result in death. that was calculated from number fatalities from overdoses of paracetamol per year divided by total number of paracetamol overdoses in uk. look up the statistics if you dont believe me. despite the hype its one of the worst ways to try to kill yourself. unless you are anorexic or an alcoholic with liver failure already. they have a better chance.
if you are that worried just dont do it, chill!!
its usually less paracetamol with extra codeine and stuff in it, tends from 325-400mg.
when they talk about "small doses" of paracetamol being fatal, they mean like 32 pills, but as i said, youd have to have something else wrong with you for that to happen. anorexic, chronic alcoholic, a child, (you DIDNT say how old you were but i assume you are an adult..) etc.
