Why does Obama want us to think he grew up in a poor one parent family?

He grew up with two grandparents playing the role as surrogate mother and father. He went to an exclusive private school for all of his education. Why does he want us to think he grew up in a poor one parent family?

Update:

SilverK Baracka attended an exclusive private school in Honolulu from the age of ten through graduation. He lived with his well off grandparents, one of whom was a bank vice president and partial owner of the bank. I didn't see them at the convention.

For him it is all about votes and if you have to lie or change your family and/or your religious beliefs who cares in his family . Get the votes Obama who could care less about this nation as testifies when he went to Iraq and was asked to take a moment to answer one of our troops questions . He replied that he did not have time for that , he had other things to do .. He also shows his allegience by theflag lapel he wears on his collar and it is not the USA flag . Check it out .

You know, I'm a Democrat and I've watched this whole convention and I've been knowledgeable about the candidates who were running for a lot longer than you have, easily, because you're still not informed. Where are you GETTING your information? Do you have the intellect to question your sources? My God, you are so desperate to see our country wrecked and the world hurtling toward an untimely end by electing McCain, that you don't even care what's true.

Wow, some people really want everyone to know how few functioning lights are still on the string.

    SOME FOOL SAID:

"He's a phony, empty suited, hypocrite. The money used to buil the "O" shrine for today ceremony could use for the poor, but hey...he the God who will fix our souls.... It's a joke to see all people worship this crook."

In order to help the poor, Barack Obama has to be elected first. In 2004, Democrats learned that Republicans will say anything, they will do anything to win, so we must make sure our convention outdoes theirs and isn't so nicey-nice that we don't call it like it is. We looked lackluster and weak next to the Republicans. At least our convention was about the future and change. At least we weren't having an all-star celebrity roast on the podium while the audience waved 50 cent Walmart flip flops made in a sweat shop by 8 year olds.

This money came from private donations. It was given to elect him president. What do you want him to do? Accept it on false pretenses and then say, "Well, I've decided not to campaign, but donate the money to the poor instead"?

Don't be imbeciles people. You are so enraged by the idea that your party got its chance and FAILED ALL OF US and that the next president is BLACK that you can't bring yourself even to listen or look around you.

nicely, being damaging as a toddler does not inevitably propose you care relating to the damaging. to illustrate, Nixon grew up very damaging; he could no longer even have sufficient money to pass to harvard, the place he became into admitted. And he's a robust occasion of ways a damaging toddler won the honour to run for president. he became into even denied from a fraternity he utilized to. that's extra intersteing how one turns into rich. "Antoin "Tony" Rezko (born 1955 in Aleppo, Syria) is an American political fundraiser, restaurateur, and actual assets developer in Chicago, Illinois those days convicted on numerous counts of fraud and bribery. The "idea" of growing up in an impoverished, one parent family tugs at the heart stings of many. The reality of growing up in the home of a bank vice president isn't as dramatic.^

Exactly when did he use those precise terms? Just because someone says they didn't grow up wealthy doesn't mean they grew up in destitute. That's what's wrong with u ppl u alter others words so that u can feel better about urself. How about reading his bio or doing some honest research instead of using YA to back up your every claim. I didn't even like Obama before due to other reasons but now that im reading what others have to say...it shows me just how mindless and DUMB Americans really are. -GETAGRIP LOOSER!!!

His Grandparents were well off. He lived with them from 5th grade thru High school while his mother came and went, living in Indonesia. Not sure how his mother got food stamps in Indonesia!

Yes they were abandoned by his father, his mother gave up parenting to his grandparents, but poor? no way.

Your question is inaccurate. Yes, he lived with his grandparents for a while but he also lived with his mother and step father for a while and he lived with his mother while she was single.

Yes he did go to private school for a while but he also went to public school including one named "Government Elementary School Number 4" in Indonesia.

Yeah. I'm sure that made up for the fact that his father left when he was 2. NOT. His mother qualified for FOOD STAMPS. Not many well off families get food stamps.

He went to a private school on a SCHOLARSHIP... his family couldn't begin to afford the tuition.

Why does John McCain want us to think he's middle class?

  • 1 decade ago

What a stretch, he received a scholarship to the school...his mother was on welfare. I really wish we actually had honest discussion on this site, its really sick the way some of you guys react to change. Dont be afraid and don't try to push fear unto us that are ready for change...I am almost done with this site.

To better appeal to the American people, obviously. What do you think McCain will be trying to do next week?
