They pick her because they were losing in Alaska because of her graft. They think they can stop the FBI investigation against her for being a political hatch and abusing her powers.

She's a woman, she's a hunter, she has a kid with Down Syndrome, she's ethical (publicly protested state violations by Alaska GOP leaders). I like her. I liked Mitt Romney better, but she's good too. And the state of Alaska agrees - she has an approval rate in the 90s.
