Question for Christians: Do you believe there was a trinity before Jesus was born in human form?
In other words, before Jesus was born to Mary, was God just the Father and the Holy Spirit or was God always a trinity?
When I say "trinity", I mean the "three in one" concept of God. I understand there aren't three gods.
The question is, did Jesus always exist as part of the singularity or did Jesus become part of it when He was born in human form? Perhaps it would help to think of God as a zygote. When the cell divides, it is still one body, but it now has another part. Did Jesus become a new part of the existing God or did God always exist with three parts to the whole.

There was always a trinity from the beginning. In Genesis when He was creating the world, He always said "Let US create this, Let US create that meaning the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit existed during creation, and In the Old Testament, when Shadrak, Mesach and Abnego was burning the furnace, the king opened the furnace and saw 4 men even though he put 3 in there, the fouth person was Jesus. The Trinity was always existed but they did play different roles through time.

Im not going to recite scripture rather I will just plainly tell you. Jesus proclaims he was here before we were. He declared " Before Abraham I AM!" So if Jesus was here before the creation of the earth, there was always a trinity. It just needed to be revealed to us for our salvation. God's Holy Spirit was always here, as well as God himself, and the Word which was with God who is Christ was also already here.
Not to argue here but I just want to make a point. We have to realize that the trinity makes up one figure itself. All 3 parts which are the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit are all one. For Jesus proclaimed "Me and the Father are one". The trinity is 3 parts of God who all come together as one. Yet Jesus also proclaimed that God the Father is greater than he because God the Father created Christ in his image.

Yes, the Godhead has eternally existed as one God in three persons.
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made...14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

We believe God was always a Trinity. Jesus was not created; He was and IS the Creator.

I must admit, I'd never really thought about it!
Thanks for such a thought provoking question!
I just always thought of the trinity as one being... you know, like water, can be liquid, solid and gas. One being with three parts.

I attended a sermon once where the pastor used the first chapter of Genesis where it says something about "the word was with God and the word was God." He said that "the word" is Jesus.
idk...
