Gun toting Republican VP, do we really want them?

Why is it that a Republican Presidential candidate choose are card carrying member of the NRA? Does the NRA have control over the VP slot? Why does the NRA wield so much power?

Update:

The NRA hides behind the Constitution.

That document was written a long time ago, when there were threats of all types, and people needed to hunt and defend their homes from wild life and rogues. Today, not so much, automatic weapons are not used for hunting and they should not be kept for protection in the home. Guns, if you look at statistics, show that many owners in peril or robbed have that very gun they own, used by the intruder against them or others individuals during another crime.

Children finding guns and killing themselves and others, not to mention, teenagers going on rampages with guns in schools and malls.

Do you really want to send that message out to th people?

Update 2:

I did not support John Kerry.

Update 3:

I think by your answer Krammar, you are the ignorant dumb@ss.

If you have nothing intelligent to say, don't bother saying it.

I don't have a problem with hunting guns....I do however have a problem with pistols and automatic weapons,..what in the world would any one need with a gun like that in their home....It's rediculous and would only be used to shoot other people...fueling the fire if you ask me...It doesn't make you safer it makes you part of the problem....No I don't think we need a gun toting VP....

Well, as a gun-toting liberal and card-carrying member of both the NRA and the ACLU, I don't see what the fuss is on that end. Now, if you want to argue qualifications, that's another matter entirely.

At least she's probably a better shot than Cheney is!

MICK KANE chose her for the Harley bike festival contest. He wants the biker vote. She has a semi-automatic weapon that she shoots on TV. She is a good reason to put females on the frontlines. She may be a good reason for gun-control in Alaska. She is going to machine gun the bears or Democrats. Airhead and she's not blond yet.

You don't want to know what she does with balls or maybe some of you do.

Scott K: Do you require a machine gun to hit your deer... ?better get some lessons boy.

I don't think it should matter that she hold an NRA card.... In Fact, being the power hungry woman that she is, wouldn't you expect it of her?

The NRA is an extremely powerful lobbying group. They are part of the reason that we have the highest gun violence rate by far in all of the developed countries. A gun-toting VP is always a fine example for the youth of America, just like Cheney.

Find a new tree to bark up. Being a hunter is an established tradition in this country. It may not be what you or I choose, but there are plenty of Democrats that would shoot Bambi's dad if they got the chance.

Isn't the NRA owned or headed by a White Supermacy group? Not sure though!

I wouldn't vote for any woman who didn't tote a gun.

They just don't make them like Annie Oakley any more.
