Windows Vista - blank/black screen?

I have 3 different computers, all running Windows Vista (3 different copies), and all have the same problem that has cropped up in the last 6 months.

When starting the computer(s), it appears that Vista doesn't completely load. The result is a black screen.

I have tried 1) repeatedly hitting the F8 key to interrupt, 2) using the Vista recovery disk and 3) attaching the laptops [2 are laptops, 1 is a desktop] to a separate monitor, thinking that perhaps they were stuck in sleep mode.

Any suggestions? Thanks

Having the exact same problem "crop up" on three different computers, that each have their own copy of Vista (or any other os), is very strange, to the point (almost) of impossible, UNLESS you have installed something (a program, movie, etc...) on all three computers. There has to be a common "bond" between these computers. Try scanning for malware/trojans, as this has to be caused by software. If this fails to solve problem, then you need to do a "clean install" of Vista, and wipe everything out for a fresh start. A recovery or restore point isn't going to cut it in your case.

hi CUTELIT: Your maximum suitable guess is to reformat the stressful force. in case you heard any clicking then which potential the stressful force is ineffective. If the stressful force is ineffective, or if its only the working device, i might advise you back up the information you are able to desire. An IDE/SATA to USB Adapter can help gain this (google "BT-3 hundred topmicrousa"). This enables pass the loading technique and accesses the information immediately. as quickly as you subsidized up, reformat or get a clean stressful force and then recopy. better of success.
