Windows Vista - blank/black screen?
I have 3 different computers, all running Windows Vista (3 different copies), and all have the same problem that has cropped up in the last 6 months.
When starting the computer(s), it appears that Vista doesn't completely load. The result is a black screen.
I have tried 1) repeatedly hitting the F8 key to interrupt, 2) using the Vista recovery disk and 3) attaching the laptops [2 are laptops, 1 is a desktop] to a separate monitor, thinking that perhaps they were stuck in sleep mode.
Any suggestions? Thanks

My son was having problems getting to a game that he wanted to play (something to do with the router blocking) so he changed the IP address (using ipconfig) for the router to a static IP address. He says that he un-did everything, but now we can't get to anything except that particular game.
I'm not sure what he actually did. Any ideas would be appreciated. We're using a NetGear Rangemax router with a PC running Windows XP

My teengage daughter drives my old car, a 2000 Ford Taurus. I haven't seen the car yet, but she says that the RPM drops suddenly (or sometimes spikes) when driving and when idling - and then sometimes stalls.
I know she's been buying cheap, no-name gas. Could that be the problem? I also know she doesn't maintain it regularly...
It shouldn't be the transmission (recently rebuilt)
Thanks in advance for any suggestions
