From analog to pay for cable?

When they quit broadcasting analog TV and switch to digital, does that mean everyone that has to have a converter box will then have to pay for cable to watch TV? Seems like a forced enterprise if so.

It's not forced enterprise. People with analog TVs will have to buy a DTV converter from a electronics store for each TV that is not hooked up to cable. Or people can call their cable company for an existing customer installation, and if you have cable I might check with your provider on any deals going on related to it.

There's nothing to worry about, you might have to fork out the money for it but there are options available for each circumstance.

No, most people who use the converter box will be able to receive digital signals. You might have difficulty with reception if you are in a rural area. You also might have to buy a new antenna. The converter boxes will probably be sufficient for most people without having to resort to purchasing cable.
