Adding bone meal or any other bulb booster would be good. Tulips are not very fussy.

tulips are bulbs and therefore require alot of soil nutrients. They like Bone Meal or Blood Meal. I usually plant around 400 bulbs each fall and I used to use Bone Meal worked into the soil 1 tblspn per bulb. But then I got a hound dog. You can figure the rest out. If you have a dog who has access to your bulb beds...I dont recommend Bone Meal. It is the best thing for bulbs tho. Use lots of Organic matter....good luck..

Tulips are not really particular. However, improving your soil by working some compost or well rotted manure into the first six inches will result in sturdier plants and a harvest of larger bulbs after the growing season.
