What is the best free program to convert camcorder video files to a type uploadable to Youtube?

Right now when I try and play/upload a video that I've downloaded from my camcorder, the sound plays but not the picture. So uploading to Youtube would be useless. Is there an easy program that I can use to convert the file into something usable?

    Do the video format is .WMV, .AVI, .MOV, .MPEG, .3GP or .MP4? If not, you need to convert it to one of them with a video converter. There is a free video converter you can use.

    the converter i use is "SUPER" it converters any file to WMV, AVI, MPG, MPEG, etc... also its all free
