How do I fix sound problem?
Whenever I use a music/ video player, start up/ shut down the computer, or I receive an alert, sound starts skipping/ freezing/overlapping, and the computer runs slowly. I tried every troubleshooter available, but nothing changed.

It is hard to say exactly what is causing this because it sounds like your computer is extremely bogged down. I would consider doing a reformat of the computer or doing a complete virus scan and try to clean up your computer. Also, you should see if your sound drivers are properly updated.

Maybe your sound device isn't up to date..
right click 'my computer' on your desktop --> properties --> under 'hardware' tab --> device manager --> in the list look for 'sound, video and game controllers' and double click on it --> in the sub-menu find your sound device's name ( on my sony vaio laptop w/ vista operating system my sound device is 'realtek high definition audio ) and right click it --> update driver software
if that doesn't solve the problem..try uninstalling the sound device then reinstalling it again..follow the same steps above but when you right click on your sound device's name click 'uninstall' ..you'll get a warning with the option 'delete driver software for this device' DON'T check the box next to it..when the installation setup is done restart your laptop..when you turn it back on it will automatically detect your sound device again and ask if you wanna install it..
hope this solves the problem..
